Teams at Thurrock Council

Ensures children and pedestrians safely cross roads at designated points by stopping traffic safely and protecting the welfare of other road users. This permanent, term-time role works 10 hours per week at various Thurrock locations and requires an enhanced DBS check with the Children’s Barred List.

Supports the design, technical checking, and delivery of highway and transport improvement schemes. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing engineering designs, drawings, and technical reports; ensuring compliance with highway standards; supporting projects from concept through construction; collaborating with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders; and managing multiple deadlines.

Supports the management and maintenance of the highway network within a local authority. Assists with investigating, designing, planning, programming, and implementing highway and street-lighting schemes. Contributes to network modernisation and delivery programmes while using specialist asset-management software. Requires strong communication, initiative, willingness to learn, and experience in a highways or street-lighting environment.
