Teams at Thurrock Council

Leads complex SEND mediation, disagreement resolution, and Tribunal appeal cases for the Local Authority. Responsibilities include preparing legal submissions, representing the council at hearings, advising partners, managing statutory complaints and information requests, analysing performance trends, supporting quality assurance, and driving service improvements. The role requires detailed knowledge of SEND legislation, Tribunal procedures, case law, statutory deadlines, negotiation, risk assessment, and multi-agency collaboration.

Support Thurrock’s School Attendance Support Team by advising schools on attendance management, engaging elective home education families, managing Children Missing Education cases, and pursuing statutory action where required. Responsibilities include home visits, reviewing evidence, preparing court paperwork and penalty notices, supporting safeguarding through MASH involvement, and contributing specialist advice to council policies and strategies.

Support management and conservation of council parks and countryside sites, carry out practical habitat and tree work, operate and maintain machinery, ensure H&S compliance, supervise staff and volunteers, run visitor engagement and educational activities, and deputise for the Senior Ranger as required.
