Develops, negotiates, administers, and monitors complex or high-value contracts for Austin Energy. Responsibilities include drafting scopes, terms, and performance measures; ensuring contract, purchase, and invoice compliance; managing amendments and disputes; resolving claims and noncompliance; advising stakeholders; delivering training; researching contract information; and preparing analytical reports. Oversee complex accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, revenue and grant billing, audits, internal controls, and month-end close. Prepare statements and audit work papers in accordance with GAAP, research accounting standards, resolve discrepancies, train staff, and provide guidance to departments. Supervise five accountants and lead accounting projects, reporting, and compliance activities for Austin Public Health.

Verifies patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and coverage for ambulance services; determines responsible payers, assigns diagnosis codes, submits claims, and processes payments. Reviews and corrects billing information, handles denied claims and appeals, manages aging accounts, and communicates with patients and insurers. Maintains confidentiality while complying with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and applicable laws.

Lead design and implementation of load forecasting, generation simulation, and market systems to optimize generation, fuel, hedging and wholesale transactions. Support ERCOT QSE functions, perform production-costing and financial analysis, validate unit performance data, evaluate renewable and conservation project economics, and provide 24/7 technical support and mentorship to junior analysts.

Performs public-sector procurement services, including informal and limited formal solicitations, purchase orders, contract formation, contract monitoring, contract administration, buying, category management support, and procurement advisory services. Works with city departments, vendors, contractors, and the public; monitors compliance and deliveries; develops category expertise and market intelligence; and supports purchasing transactions and contract closure.

Lead enterprise architecture practice to align technology with business goals. Develop and govern architecture frameworks, roadmaps, and standards; analyze current systems; design future-state architectures; guide solution implementations; mentor architects; ensure governance, compliance, and cross-stakeholder collaboration across departments and vendors.

Manages Austin Energy’s portfolio of vertical and horizontal construction projects, facility renovations, and space reconfigurations. Responsibilities include engineering design, specifications, plans review, permitting, contract and consultant management, construction administration, regulatory compliance, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and post-construction services. Leads technical personnel, coordinates with contractors and agencies, provides engineering guidance, conducts site assessments, and represents Austin Energy in stakeholder meetings.

Writes and edits technical manuals, system documentation, proposals, training materials, correspondence, reports, and marketing content. Consults subject matter experts, researches technical information, interprets specifications and blueprints, organizes materials, incorporates visual aids, proofreads documents, and maintains revision records. The role works in the Office of the Fire Chief, is in-office with no telework, and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Develop and manage advertising, promotional and integrated marketing communications for assigned products and services. Collaborate with product managers and agencies, create copy and creative, manage budgets and media buys, conduct market research and customer journey mapping, track KPIs, and support brand and product launches for the utility.

Supervises plans examiners and oversees the technical review of building, zoning, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy plans for code compliance. Resolves complex code and special-inspection issues with architects, engineers, contractors, inspectors, and city staff. The role develops programs, code amendments, performance reports, and rejection comments; advises on alternative compliance methods; coordinates across city divisions; supports field inspections; and trains and evaluates subordinate staff.

Assist the Director in planning, directing, managing, and evaluating ACME programs, budgets, personnel, and policies. Oversee program delivery, prepare business plans and reports, serve as spokesperson to stakeholders, mentor staff, ensure compliance with laws and city regulations, identify funding, and measure program effectiveness.

Lead and manage complex civil engineering projects for Austin Transportation and Public Works: develop technical specifications, review plans and contracts, manage budgets and construction inspection, ensure regulatory and ROW compliance, negotiate agreements, coordinate stakeholders, mentor staff, and provide advanced technical guidance and training.

Operates and maintains electric generation units at a power plant. Troubleshoots complex mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/control equipment; starts and stops units; adjusts turbine-generator loading; records and interprets operating data; performs repairs, calibration, alignment, and testing; collects chemistry samples; follows lockout/tagout and environmental procedures; and leads, trains, and assigns work to others. Requires rotating 12-hour shifts, emergency availability, and work around hazardous energy systems.

Builds scalable business intelligence solutions, including databases, data warehouses, queries, dashboards, and automated reports. Translates business requirements into actionable data solutions, integrates BI platforms with enterprise systems, manages data transfers, troubleshoots data quality and performance issues, and supports testing, documentation, vendor coordination, and end-user training.

Designs, installs, troubleshoots, inspects, repairs, and operates irrigation systems for Austin Parks and Recreation. Develops system specifications, watering schedules, conservation programs, diagrams, and reports; monitors water quality and regulatory compliance; tests backflow devices; obtains permits; and provides technical guidance to staff, vendors, and volunteers. The role may assign and train others, operate maintenance equipment, work outdoors in varied conditions, and travel between multiple locations.

Supports Austin Human Resources’ Learning, Engagement & Development Office through research, analysis, executive communications, project tracking, process improvement, performance measurement, procurement and vendor support, SharePoint administration, and meeting facilitation. The role develops reports, presentations, recommendations, process documentation, and decision-support materials while coordinating timelines, deliverables, action items, and stakeholders across citywide initiatives.

Supports the HR Risk Management Division by administering Workers’ Compensation, FMLA, extended leave, and timekeeping programs. Provides HR guidance on personnel policies and employment laws, researches issues, compiles data, prepares reports and documents, analyzes employee morale indicators, resolves HR problems, and collaborates with stakeholders. The role may also train or guide others and requires CJIS eligibility, a Texas Class C driver’s license, and hybrid work in Austin.

Provides enterprise information and physical security leadership, including risk mitigation, compliance, incident response, investigations, security standards, awareness training, and secure IT solution implementation. Leads Identity Governance and Administration capabilities, IAM integrations, automated provisioning, federation, lifecycle management, access reviews, audit support, and compliance operations. The role is primarily remote within Texas, with occasional onsite work and after-hours issue response.

Performs performance audits, investigations, and special projects for the City Auditor’s Office. The role evaluates municipal programs for effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and compliance through research, interviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis, documentation, presentations, and written recommendations. The auditor manages assigned project activities, develops audit scope and methodology, reviews team work, and applies government auditing standards, laws, regulations, and professional judgment. No supervisory responsibilities are assigned.

Perform advanced tactical and strategic crime and intelligence analysis for the Austin Police Department. Produce analytical products, support investigations and patrol, maintain criminal databases, share intelligence across agencies, use geospatial mapping and phone/financial data analysis, lead or train other analysts, and may testify in court.
