Leads clinical research studies from startup through closeout, including participant screening, informed consent, clinical assessments, specimen collection, device testing, data management, and regulatory submissions. Ensures compliance with IRB requirements, ICH guidelines, Good Clinical Practice, sponsor procedures, and federal regulations. Supervises research coordinators, maintains study documentation, monitors safety and data quality, supports audits, and coordinates with investigators, sponsors, military personnel, and multidisciplinary research teams at Naval Base Point Loma.

Provides administrative and operational support to clinical research teams by managing calendars, meetings, travel logistics, correspondence, records, project tracking, reports, communications, supplies, and procurement requests. Coordinates information among military, civilian, and contractor personnel while supporting compliance, data entry, presentations, and meeting follow-up. The role requires strong organization, communication, multitasking, Microsoft Office proficiency, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Leads infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, field studies, and operational epidemiological research supporting military force health protection. Designs protocols, manages complex datasets, applies advanced statistical and machine learning methods, develops surveillance systems, and communicates actionable findings to military, public health, clinical, and scientific stakeholders. The role also manages funded research projects, contributes to grants and publications, coordinates multidisciplinary and external collaborators, and provides guidance during urgent public health events.
