Leads Mercedes-Benz’s North American IP and patent function, overseeing patent prosecution, portfolio strategy, licensing, third-party rights analysis, IP litigation support, SEP issues, outside counsel, and policy matters. Manages the IP team, develops company-wide IP practices and training, advises legal and business teams, supports technology agreements, and coordinates global IP strategy, budgeting, and staffing.

Maintains automotive measurement equipment and data logger systems, configures sensors and measurement plans, troubleshoots diagnostic and onboard systems, executes vehicle tests, and delivers data for fuel economy, NVH, active safety, thermal, analog, and vehicle network projects. The role also maintains documentation, coordinates workshops and suppliers, supports process improvement, and conducts test driving on roads and proving grounds.

Leads passive and active vehicle safety initiatives, serves as a regulatory liaison, supports rating and compliance testing, and coordinates communication with U.S. regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include monitoring emerging regulatory topics, preparing technical comments and responses, supporting federal rulemaking and research activities, conducting benchmark studies, and participating in outreach events.

Serve as technical compliance advisor bridging legal and engineering to identify, analyze, and mitigate software and regulatory risks (AI, ADS/ADAS, export). Research standards, translate requirements into scalable processes and automated solutions, prepare commodity classifications, support trainings, and perform technical analyses for regulatory submissions.

Provide senior legal advice on U.S. export controls (EAR/ITAR), manage and build the companys export control program, support classification/licensing/recordkeeping, lead export compliance operations and team, collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders, conduct risk assessments, and represent the company before government agencies.

Support development and operation of trade compliance program focusing on export controls for software, encryption, and technology classification. Perform classification, encryption review, license determination and submissions, end-use/end-user verifications, recordkeeping, audits, and cross-functional coordination with legal, engineering, and business teams.

Provide expert legal advice on U.S. export controls (EAR/ITAR), manage and operate the export control program, lead classification (ECCN), licensing and deemed export submissions, conduct audits and recordkeeping, advise engineering and executives on technology transfers and encryption, represent the company before regulators, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver training and risk assessments.
