We are looking for a Software Engineer to build and own product features across our claims platform end to end. You will work close to the problem: shaping how features are designed, shipping them to production, and standing behind them once they are live. This is a builder role for someone who wants autonomy and impact, not process for its own sake.

You will be expected to run independently. That means working directly with our internal teams and with the customers who use what you build, chasing down the context you need, unblocking yourself, and driving to the objective without someone checking in on you. It also means being curious about what LLMs can do for a claims operation: spotting the manual workflow that should not be manual, and building the thing that automates it.

• Design, build, and ship full-stack features across the claims platform (frontend, API, data)

• Own work end to end: from spec and ticket through to production

• Work directly with internal teams and customers to understand the real problem, then scope and ship the fix Identify where LLMs can automate our customers’ experience and improve their efficiency, then build it

• Contribute to architecture and technical decisions, not just execute tickets

• Raise the bar on code quality and testing in the work you own and the code you review

• Work inside our AI-assisted development workflow (Claude Code, shared standards, automated CI)

• Unblock peers through code review

  • Backend: TypeScript by default, with Python for our data and AI work

  • Data: Postgres on RDS, with Dataform and BigQuery in GCP

  • Cloud: AWS and GCP AI-assisted development is standard here, not an experiment.

  • We write 100% of our code with LLMs

  • (You do not need to be an expert in all of it. You need to be eager to learn it and to explore the parts you have not seen before.)

• Self-directed: thrives with autonomy and ambiguity in a startup, and takes accountability for the outcome

• Curious and excited about the potential of LLMs to automate customer workflows, and able to spot those opportunities without being handed them 3+ years building production web applications, with real full-stack depth

• Working knowledge of TypeScript and modern frontend (React), plus backend and API experience

• Comfortable owning features end to end in a cloud environment (AWS and/or GCP)

• Solid instincts for testing, code review, and shipping reliably without heavy process

• AI-first in how they work: uses AI-assisted development tools to automate and speed up their own work, and brings that same automation mindset to what we build for users

• Professional working English

• Nice to have:

  • Insurance, fintech, or other regulated-domain experience

We set our salary ranges using compensation data from companies similar to our stage and size. The actual salary will vary depending on multiple factors unique to each candidate, including location, job-related knowledge, transferable skills, work experience and our assessment of your level during the interview process. Vega offers equity for all full-time employees and will have an impact on your overall compensation.
