The role is based in Reno with occasional travel to offices, project sites, or vendor locations.

Supports the Human Resources team with recruitment, candidate screening, interview coordination, onboarding, employee records, engagement initiatives, training materials, communications, HR projects, and administrative operations. The intern gains exposure to payroll, compensation, benefits, compliance, and other Total Rewards processes while collaborating with HR and cross-functional teams. This is a 40-hour-per-week summer internship based in Reno, Nevada, lasting approximately ten weeks, with occasional travel to offices, project sites, or vendors.

Supports process engineering through experimental design, pilot plant operation, troubleshooting, sampling, data recording, analysis, reporting, and process improvement for lithium extraction and processing. Assists with laboratory and piloting methods, equipment assembly and maintenance, and safe operations while collaborating across technical teams.

Supports mechanical engineering activities for plant equipment and systems, including inspections, troubleshooting, commissioning, startup, equipment data analysis, engineering calculations, drawings, documentation, reliability improvements, and vendor coordination. The role provides hands-on experience in an industrial lithium processing and construction environment while emphasizing safety, operational readiness, and collaboration with engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction teams.

Supports process engineers with plant performance analysis, mass and energy balances, technical reporting, process documentation, safety activities, commissioning, and operational support. The intern collaborates with operations, maintenance, EHS, and quality teams at an industrial lithium processing facility while following OSHA, MSHA, environmental, and site-specific safety requirements.

Provides administrative and operational support to the Thacker Pass site and management team. Responsibilities include travel and meeting coordination, expense and invoice processing, SAP purchase requisitions, document control, office operations, HR onboarding support, records management, correspondence, supplies, and liaison with other offices. The role requires strong organization, communication, confidentiality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in an active-site environment.

Administers commercial contracts, service agreements, MSAs, supply agreements, scopes of work, and task orders. Coordinates reviews with Legal, Finance, EHS, Procurement, and technical teams; manages amendments, renewals, budgets, compliance documentation, contractor performance, KPIs, disputes, audits, and contract records. Supports negotiations, invoice validation, supplier relationship management, reporting, and alignment of contract terms with sourcing activities.

Manage electronic documents and records for the Thacker Pass site using Hexagon SDX and related systems. Implement and maintain document control policies, access rights, revision controls, and review matrices. Support searches, transmittals, audits, onboarding/offboarding, and integration of document management tools while ensuring compliance, data integrity, and collaboration with engineering and operations teams.

Provide technical process engineering support for design finalization, commissioning, start-up, optimization, and operation of a sulfuric acid plant. Monitor process performance, troubleshoot issues, develop operating procedures, support KPIs/OEE, participate in safety reviews (HAZOP, PHA, RCA), and drive continuous improvement with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Lead bench and pilot-scale experiments to develop and optimize clay extraction unit operations (leaching, neutralization, precipitation). Design experimental campaigns, analyze and report data, support process modeling, evaluate technologies, and collaborate across engineering, geology, contractors, and vendors to deliver safe, low-cost processing solutions.

Provide IT/OT systems support for the Thacker Pass site: maintain DCS/SCADA, process historian, servers, networks, virtualization, backups, and endpoint devices; monitor and respond to incidents; implement OT cybersecurity practices; support integrations, commissioning, and documentation; collaborate with engineers, operations, vendors, and IT teams.

Develops, implements, and maintains training programs and LMS records for employees, contractors, and vendors; facilitates classroom and hands-on training; supports Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), OJT, regulatory compliance (MSHA, OSHA), reporting, and training effectiveness; coordinates schedules and collaborates with stakeholders to address training gaps.

Provide process engineering support for commissioning, start-up, and operations of the sulfuric acid and lithium processing facilities. Troubleshoot process issues using DCS/historian data, manage capital and sustaining projects, oversee contractors, implement safety and environmental procedures, and drive continuous improvement to optimize plant performance.

Lead electrical and instrumentation maintenance for a processing facility, ensuring safety compliance, supervising E&I technicians, troubleshooting PLC/DCS/HMI/VFD systems, managing preventative maintenance, supporting capital projects, and overseeing electrical distribution, spare parts, and vendor relationships.

Lead commercial strategy and market intelligence for Lithium Americas' product portfolio. Drive customer relationships, negotiate commercial agreements, develop market forecasts, pricing analyses, and product stewardship. Inform executive and board decision-making, evaluate growth opportunities (organic and inorganic), represent the company externally, and align cross-functional teams to support production transition and long-term business value.
