Role
We are seeking a Human Resources Intern to join our Human Resources Team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources Department with day-to-day operations and special projects. This hands-on internship offers exposure to various HR functions, including recruitment, employee engagement, training and development, HR administration, and compliance. This role will collaborate closely with the HR team, gaining practical experience in a professional environment while contributing to meaningful initiatives that enhance the workplace. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about human resources, eager to learn, and ready to take on diverse responsibilities. The contributions of this role will directly impact the success of the HR team and the overall employee experience within the organization. The role is based at our Reno, NV office and reports to the Senior, Human Resources Business Partner. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support various stages of the recruitment process, including resume review, candidate screening, reference checks, interview coordination, and onboarding materials.
- Participate in the interview and selection process alongside HR team members and hiring managers, gaining exposure to candidate evaluation, selection decisions and the offer process.
- Support Company participation in career fairs, recruiting events, and other outreach activities, including event preparation, candidate engagement, and follow-up activities.Support the onboarding process, including preparing orientation materials and assisting with new hire paperwork.
- Assist with maintaining employee records document management, and auditing employee recordsAssist with preparing presentations, employee communications, training materials, reports, and other HR-related resources as needed.
- Assist with maintaining accurate and organized employee personnel files and HR records in accordance with Company practices and applicable recordkeeping requirements.
- Participate in HR team meetings and cross-functional discussions to gain exposure to HR operations, business priorities and ongoing initiatives across the organization.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives, including planning, coordinating, and supporting activities and programs designed to enhance the employee experience, connection, and engagement across the organization.
- Support special projects and initiatives within the Human Resources department, assisting with research, coordination, documentation, and implementation as needed.
- Gain exposure to payroll, compensation, benefits, and other Total Rewards processes through job shadowing and participation in applicable projects and activities.
- Support special projects and initiatives across the Human Resources department, including research, data collection and analysis, preparation of materials, process improvements and project coordination.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the HR team and assist with other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
- Builds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in human resources and a desire to gain hands-on HR experience.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software is a plus but not required.

Work Schedule and Duration of Assignment:
The incumbent works a 40 hour/week schedule, primarily from Monday through Friday. The role is planned as a summer internship with a duration of approximately ten weeks.

What We Do
Currently, Lithium Americas is focused on advancing Thacker Pass, the largest-known lithium resource in North America, to production. Construction commenced in early 2023 and is expected to create 1,800 construction jobs and 500 permanent jobs during operations of its 40-year mine life.
