Submit medical claims promptly to insurance companies, analyze insurance payments, and resolve claim denials. The role supports revenue cycle operations and requires professional communication with insurers, practitioners, coworkers, patients, and families. Specialists work independently and collaboratively on complicated accounts while using Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and general computer systems.

Provides ongoing coding and billing education to healthcare providers, coders, and staff. Responsibilities include onboarding providers, training coders, researching coding questions, recommending coding systems and tools, developing organization-wide guidelines and curricula, and conducting regular coding and documentation audits. The specialist communicates audit findings to providers, coders, and leadership while ensuring compliance with current CPT, ICD-10, payer, and clinical documentation requirements.

Provide patient-centered cardiology nursing care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, delegate, and evaluate. Assist providers, carry out orders, maintain timely documentation, follow MN Nurse Practice Act and LRHC policies, and collaborate with care teams. Work day shifts (72 hours biweekly) at clinic sites with some travel between locations.

Organize and ensure efficient operation of the microbiology laboratory section, perform microbiology testing and specimen collection, monitor quality control, maintain CAP/CLIA compliance, troubleshoot instruments/procedures, train staff and students, assist with method development, and assume section responsibility in manager absence. Weekend and shift coverage required.

Perform diagnostic echocardiography and vascular ultrasound (transthoracic, transesophageal, stress) while providing patient care, cleaning/stocking, basic office tasks, transporting patients, and participating in weekend/holiday call rotation. Work independently under Ultrasound Supervisor and maintain patient confidentiality.

Provide inpatient nutritional assessment, monitoring, and therapy for diverse medical patients. Collaborate with clinical teams on enteral/parenteral nutrition, support Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation, manage menu software and verify cafe nutrition labeling.

Provide 24/7 security coverage for Fergus Falls Hospital and adjacent buildings: perform routine security checks, monitor parking and grounds, de-escalate incidents, escort staff, report and document concerns, respond to emergencies, assist with non-medical visitor/patient needs, and maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
