Requires a PE license, strong electrical design expertise, software proficiency, and onsite availability.

Designs, specifies, and evaluates chemical process systems for capital projects. Performs material and energy balances, develops PFDs and P&IDs, creates equipment specifications, and applies regulations and industry standards. Supports process safety, HAZOPs, troubleshooting, client presentations, vendor coordination, and multidisciplinary project execution. May lead process engineering activities while tracking project budgets and schedules. The role is primarily office-based with occasional project-site travel.

Responsibilities include Allen-Bradley PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA support, instrumentation, VFDs, MCCs, documentation, root-cause analysis, commissioning, startup, and reliability improvements. The engineer collaborates with operations, maintenance, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams in an active manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, onsite, 12-month contract assignment in Richmond, Virginia, with possible extension.

Develop mechanical designs for industrial capital projects, including process equipment, piping systems, utility systems, equipment layouts, P&IDs, and engineering drawings. Perform field verification, update documentation and as-built drawings, support RFIs, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Ensure designs meet safety standards, applicable codes, and constructability requirements.

Supports mechanical design for industrial projects under the direction of lead designers and engineers. Responsibilities include developing scope documents, equipment layouts, piping plans, 3D models, drawings, and material takeoffs; tracking schedules, budgets, quality, and project documentation; coordinating with clients and project teams; and using Plant 3D, AutoCAD, laser scanning, point clouds, Navisworks, and Edgewise.
