This is a seconded position, meaning the selected candidate will be employed by ITAC but work full-time on assignment with one of our clients. While day-to-day responsibilities will be managed on-site with the client, ITAC provides ongoing support, resources, and benefits as your employer. This position is full time contract work anticipated to last for 6 months with the possibility of extension. This position will require that the employee work onsite at the client’s Hampton Roads, VA location. Please only apply if these requirements are agreeable to you.

Overview

The Project Manager will support the client's Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) division in the planning, coordination, and execution of a multi-year facility expansion project, including modifications to an existing manufacturing building and the construction of an additional facility extension. The Project Manager will serve as a key member of the project team, helping to ensure the successful delivery of capital improvement projects while maintaining alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, safety requirements, and operational needs.

The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating engineering, design, procurement, contractor, and construction activities throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, engineering disciplines, vendors, contractors, and project team members to support project planning and execution. The Project Manager will apply sound engineering judgment and project management principles to facilitate effective decision-making and ensure high-quality project outcomes.

The role will involve reviewing engineering deliverables, supporting equipment and facility layout discussions, coordinating technical requirements with vendors, and assisting with the development and review of project specifications. While the position will work closely with engineering and design teams, direct design responsibilities are not anticipated.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of project plans for facility expansion and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, civil, architectural, and construction resources to define project scope, requirements, schedules, and budgets.
  • Facilitate engineering reviews and stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and coordination of technical specifications, project documentation, and bid packages.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers and vendors regarding equipment requirements, layouts, installation considerations, and project deliverables.
  • Evaluate project risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project execution.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, contractor, and construction activities to support project objectives.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality performance.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
  • Track project progress and communicate status updates, risks, and key decisions to project stakeholders.
  • Support contractor management, procurement activities, field coordination, and construction oversight as required.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed in accordance with project requirements and established timelines.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience managing or supporting industrial facility, manufacturing, or capital improvement projects, with additional experience preferred.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering background with the ability to review technical information and coordinate engineering activities.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering consultants, contractors, equipment vendors, and construction teams.
  • Strong understanding of project execution within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.

Skills Required
