Manages organ services staff and supports department goals across the organ donation process. Ensures regulatory and policy compliance, develops evidence-based practices, and maintains expertise in donor evaluation, physiological management, organ preservation, staffing, and allocation logistics. Oversees clinical performance reviews, after-hours consultation, data analysis, operational reporting, employee development, and performance management while promoting a safe, inclusive, and effective work environment.

Reviews viable organ referrals, assesses critically ill donor clinical status, coordinates with hospital care teams, supports brain-death and withdrawal-of-support processes, approaches families, obtains donation authorization, manages documentation, and educates clinical and hospital development staff. The role may also direct donor medical management in the ICU, conduct physical assessments, verify donor registry records, and assist donation coordinators.

Manages organ donor evaluation, screening, and critical care in the ICU. Reviews medical records and clinical data, assesses donor suitability, directs treatment and ventilator management, documents care and regulatory compliance, and coordinates multi-organ recovery in the operating room. Collaborates with hospital teams, transplant centers, surgeons, and donor families; supports brain death or withdrawal-of-support planning, organ packaging and transportation, staff education, and quality improvement.

Performs organ preservation, recovery, packaging, labeling, documentation, and transport for transplant, research, clinical trials, and education. Uses aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, organ preservation devices, and electronic donor records while coordinating with transplant centers and interdisciplinary teams. Maintains compliance with OPTN and organizational policies, supports performance improvement, and ensures safe handling of organs, tissues, vascular composite allografts, and specimens.
