The Vice President, Performance Excellence and Patient Safety Officer leads strategic planning, performance improvement, quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and patient safety activities for an organ and tissue donation organization. Responsibilities include overseeing safety investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, audits, data reporting, process improvements, and multidisciplinary leadership. The role also supervises division staff, supports organizational change, and serves as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, transplant partners, hospitals, patients, and donor families.

Supports families of potential organ, tissue, and eye donors in hospital settings. Partners with healthcare providers and clinical personnel to educate families, obtain donation authorization, complete legal and donor risk documentation, assess family dynamics, coordinate conversations, escalate complex referrals, and provide follow-up. Requires compassionate communication, crisis-management skills, confidentiality, organization, medical terminology knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced interdisciplinary environments.

Supports families of potential organ, tissue, and eye donors during grief and crisis. Collaborates with hospital and clinical teams, educates legal decision-makers, obtains donation authorization, completes documentation, conducts donor risk assessments, coordinates escalations, and provides post-donation follow-up. The role requires compassionate communication, advocacy, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to work onsite in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
