Leads engineers responsible for large-generation interconnection and modeling within the ERCOT power system. Oversees interconnection studies, modeling data, network model updates, protocol compliance, commissioning reviews, and planning databases. Interfaces with market participants, management, technical committees, regulators, and industry organizations. Supervises, hires, coaches, and develops professional staff; contributes to budgets, policy initiatives, and expert testimony on generation interconnection matters.

Supports financial planning and analysis activities, including reviewing spend requests, preparing budget and forecast analyses, reconciling ERP and financial planning data, updating planning systems, and escalating issues. The intern will follow regulatory and organizational policies and complete a project, likely an annual ISO/RTO benchmarking presentation. The role provides exposure to accounting processes, general ledger entries, personnel processes, and business decision-making.

Coordinates shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation, and delivery schedules. Tracks shipments, manages purchase order deliveries, maintains secure asset storage, resolves logistics issues, coordinates returns, and monitors freight costs. Analyzes supply chain KPIs and prepares reports to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities. The role also supports employee and contractor equipment onboarding and offboarding and requires regular physical handling of materials.

Performs ERCOT nodal market settlement calculations, investigates participant inquiries and disputes, and validates settlement system changes using SQL and SAS. Supports commercial operations system implementations, develops requirements and test materials, recommends process improvements, and communicates technical concepts to varied audiences. Senior-level responsibilities include mentoring analysts, overseeing deliverables, providing training, and leading projects.

Supports ERCOT demand response market participation by guiding loads through registration, qualification, and testing. Monitors wholesale market and grid conditions, analyzes operational data using SQL and Excel, validates electric power system models, prepares reports, resolves Market Participant issues, and supports protocol changes and market system testing. The role also communicates with stakeholders, provides technical assistance, and assesses evolving grid and market trends.

Develop and support analytical, visualization, monitoring, and control tools for electric grid operations and planning. Perform electrical engineering analysis, system studies, modeling, testing, benchmarking, and troubleshooting to maintain grid reliability and comply with NERC and ERCOT standards. Collaborate with project teams to deploy tools, document processes, support training, gather requirements, evaluate vendor applications, and provide guidance to operators, engineers, and coordinators.

Supports ERCOT’s Enterprise Risk Management team by identifying, documenting, analyzing, and quantifying organizational risks. Assists with risk assessments, key risk indicator development, wildfire and third-party risk analysis, mitigation tracking, and research into industry and regulatory trends affecting grid operations. The intern may also explore artificial intelligence applications in risk management and will gain practical experience supporting risk-informed leadership decisions within a critical infrastructure organization.

Conducts short-, mid-, and long-term weather forecasting for ERCOT, focusing on wind and solar generation impacts. Monitors weather conditions, analyzes meteorological data, evaluates forecast accuracy, and communicates changes and risks to System Operations and management. Collaborates on load forecasting, renewable forecast vendor analysis, weather visualization tools, and high-impact weather assessments. Serves as a technical meteorology expert and may lead projects or advise other professionals.

Supervises economic analysis and long-term transmission planning studies for the ERCOT power system. Leads staff hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management while overseeing production cost modeling, transmission upgrade evaluations, extreme-weather scenario analysis, and integration of economic and reliability planning. Represents ERCOT in stakeholder forums, supports regulatory discussions, updates planning procedures, tracks congestion, and serves as a compliance-audit subject matter expert.

Provides engineering and analytical support for ERCOT’s wholesale electricity market and grid operations. Responsibilities include building and validating power system models, analyzing market performance, conducting engineering studies, developing reporting and analysis tools, testing market application changes, resolving operational issues, and supporting stakeholders including market participants and regulators. Requires collaboration across teams and increasing independence based on level.

Performs electrical engineering analysis and technical support for ERCOT’s electric power system. Conducts steady-state power-flow simulations, regional transfer studies, constraint and remedial action evaluations, reliability assessments, and Black Start Plan development. Develops modeling tools, procedures, and reliability improvements; analyzes current and future system needs; presents findings to stakeholders; and serves as a technical subject matter expert while mentoring engineers and supporting multifunctional teams.

Summer 2027 internal audit internship for undergraduate or graduate students. Interns will complete projects addressing challenges in the electric industry, collaborate with ERCOT employees, and develop professional and technical skills in a fast-paced environment. The role requires on-site work in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week.

Full-time summer intern supporting corporate strategy, continuous improvement, operational excellence, enterprise quality, and business or data analytics initiatives. Responsibilities may include synthesizing information, analyzing data, presenting findings, improving processes, and developing communications or instructional content. The role requires strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred experience includes Lean, Six Sigma, the Baldrige Excellence Framework, and Power BI.

Full-time Summer 2027 intern supporting ERCOT’s Portfolio Management team. Responsibilities include documenting Power Automate workflows, improving processes, enhancing code in test environments, testing Microsoft Project Server deployment, reverse-engineering Power BI reports, loading project engagements, assessing resource capacity, managing test backups, and supporting special projects. The role is based in Taylor, Texas, with at least two onsite days per week.

Summer 2027 internship supporting ERCOT’s Digital Technology Administration department across data operations, data product management, and grid research innovation. Interns will work on real electric-industry challenges, collaborate with ERCOT teams, and develop technical and professional skills. The role is full-time and requires on-site work in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week, with additional attendance based on business needs.

Summer 2027 engineering internship supporting ERCOT’s System Planning & Weatherization department. Interns may work in planning model administration, reliability assessment, regional and transmission planning, economic analysis, large-load studies, and related power-system functions. Responsibilities involve technical assignments addressing electric-industry challenges, with opportunities to apply software development, database querying, and power systems analysis skills in a professional team environment.

Summer 2027 engineering internship supporting ERCOT’s Interconnection and Grid Analysis Administration teams. Interns may work in generation integration, operations stability, system planning, or interconnection dynamic studies. Summer 2027 IT internship supporting ERCOT’s Digital Technology Administration department. The role provides hands-on project experience in a professional energy technology environment and requires on-site work in Taylor, Texas at least two days per week.
