Perform shipfitting tasks for steel construction and repair of marine vessels including layout, lofting, tack welding, cutting/burning with torch, rigging small lifts, building bulkheads and decks, reading simple blueprints, and following safety/OSHA procedures. Work requires physical labor, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, confined-space work, and flexible hours including overtime.

Manages engineering configuration control and change management throughout shipbuilding projects. Establishes design baselines, processes engineering change requests, maintains equipment and parts data, coordinates material takeoffs and requisitions, and manages vendor- and owner-furnished information. Collaborates across engineering, procurement, production, project management, clients, and vendors. Develops workflows, dashboards, reports, audits, and data controls, applying AI and analytics to improve traceability, discrepancy resolution, and project visibility.

Support QA Director by maintaining automated inspection systems, standardizing QA processes across commercial vessel projects, implementing inspection plans and test procedures, preparing quality reports and dashboards, coordinating QA documentation and training, and supporting internal/external audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Verify critical measurements across vessel construction phases including panel line fabrication, jig geometry, unit/block alignments, and block erection. Support production with measurement checks, liaise with Engineering, use electronic/laser measurement tools and AutoCAD, and ensure dimensional control and safety compliance.

Supervise and train electrician crews performing installation, maintenance, repair, and alteration of marine electrical and electro-mechanical systems aboard vessels. Assign work, monitor productivity and progress, support production goals, provide technical guidance, and ensure compliance with safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and ABS regulations. The role requires physically demanding shipyard work, including heights, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and exposure to industrial hazards.

Operate and maintain vessel propulsion, mechanical, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, water, and safety systems. Complete engine room rounds and regulatory logs, manage maintenance schedules, monitor equipment operation, maintain fluid levels and filtration, and oversee safety procedures, PPE, SDS, and lockout/tagout practices. The role may supervise ship crew during sea trials and requires maritime credentials, safety certifications, physical stamina, and experience as a vessel or chief engineer.

Supports the Safety Manager in shipyard safety operations by inspecting work areas, identifying and correcting hazards, enforcing PPE use, monitoring hot work, confined-space, and lockout/tagout permits, conducting safety orientations, administering first aid and post-accident testing, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations. The role requires working in demanding industrial environments, including at heights, in confined spaces, and around hazardous equipment and materials.

Install, repair, maintain, and service shipboard electrical equipment and fittings (motor starters, switchgear, transformers, control panels, meters, relays). Perform mechanical fitting, rigging, fabrication, and recordkeeping while complying with OSHA/ABS safety rules and lock-out/tag-out procedures. Work hands-on in confined spaces, at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Performs lofting, nesting, template preparation, and plate and structure planning for shipbuilding projects. Coordinates with Engineering and Production teams to support fabrication, resolve drawing clarifications, and confirm part locations. Uses 3D models to improve production clarity and align build strategies. Requires basic CAD knowledge, attention to detail, organization, communication skills, and willingness to learn ship construction practices. Work occurs in office and occasional shipyard settings.

Installs and maintains marine propulsion machinery, valves, steering gear, pumps, ventilation equipment, and foundations. Operates manual machine tools to turn and mill parts, reads blueprints, verifies precision dimensions, assembles components, secures deck equipment, rigs lifts, and performs maintenance. Requires strong mechanical aptitude, marine propulsion knowledge, precision alignment skills, and the ability to work safely in demanding shipyard environments, including heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures.

Install and align propulsion machinery, sea valves, steering gear, pumps and related shipboard equipment. Set up and operate metalworking machines, fabricate and install foundations, read blueprints, perform precision measuring, rig lifts, maintain tools and equipment, comply with safety/ABS/OSHA standards, and perform welding as required.

Supervise and coordinate installation and inspection of propulsion machinery and related marine equipment. Operate and fit parts using metalworking machines, oversee Millwright Machinist workforce, enforce safety/OSHA/ABS standards, coordinate schedules, meet production goals, perform welding (SMAW) tests, rigging, and train or indirectly supervise subordinates. Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Supervise and support Panel Line operations: assist superintendent/foreman with production schedules, oversee workforce, ensure safety and quality of finished parts, train employees, inspect products to specifications, resolve equipment/operational issues, and enforce OSHA and company safety policies.

Supervise and coordinate crew fabricating and installing metal ship structures (bulkheads, plates, frames). Assign and monitor work, ensure safety and productivity, read blueprints, loft parts, perform cutting with torch/plasma, rig lifts, and train subordinates. Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety rules.

Lay out, fabricate, align, and brace metal structural parts (plates, bulkheads, frames) in ship hulls using hand and power tools, torch/plasma cutting, and welding. Read blueprints/templates, mark and drill holes, install temporary fasteners, packing, gaskets, and structural accessories. Perform tack and permanent welding, prepare molds/templates for nonstandard parts, flag cranes, and follow safety/OSHA requirements while working at heights, confined spaces, and in a heavy industrial shipyard environment.

Coordinate engineering disciplines, subcontractors, and resources to plan, estimate, schedule (>1000 hour) shipbuilding projects. Develop estimates and integrated schedules, report status, lead resolution meetings, support RFP responses, and drive projects to completion while mentoring junior staff and occasionally supervising matrixed engineering resources.

Develop and maintain project and production-level schedules, update MS Planner/Primavera status, analyze schedule performance (SPI/CPI), coordinate with discipline managers, project engineers, payroll, and subcontractors, and assist engineering leadership with manpower projections and special research projects.
