What's the Work-Life Balance Like at Caxy?

Frequently Asked Questions

Workload Sustainability

Work-life balance at Caxy doesn't mean a rigid 9-to-5. Most of our team isn't eligible for overtime, and depending on the week, people might work anywhere from 35 to 55 hours. We're a consultancy that delivers real software for real clients, so weekends and late-night launches happen. What makes it sustainable is autonomy: we give people real flexibility to handle life stuff during the workday when they need to, because the reality is that work comes home with you sometimes too. We keep that balanced by treating our commitments like contracts — if we say Friday, we mean Friday. Sometimes we miss and have to make up the time, but more often than not, we meet what we say.

Flexibility Options

Flexibility at Caxy isn't an afterthought, it's built into how the workweek is designed. We're hybrid, with clear expectations for in-office time so collaboration happens when it actually matters, while remote days stay protected for focused, heads-down work. Async communication norms mean people aren't expected to be instantly available around the clock, and our approach to scheduling gives people real room to work in a way that fits their life.

Mental Health Support

We treat burnout prevention as something built into how we work, not just a policy on paper. We keep meetings tight and purposeful so people aren't stuck sitting through things so people spend their energy on the work itself rather than sitting in meetings that didn't need to happen. We protect time for actual work to get done. Even something as small as taking a moment off camera and on mute for a quick breathing session at the end of Monday standups is part of that, a small reset meant to set the team up for a better week. Supervisors are trained to recognize the early signs of burnout, so support can happen before someone's already struggling, not after.

Mental Health Support

Work-life balance at Caxy isn't a perk we bolt on, it's built into how the company operates. It shows up in the Caxy Promise, in the autonomy we give people to handle life during the workday, and in a willingness to walk away from client work that isn't healthy for the team. It shows up in the small stuff too: reserving remote days for real focus, using in-person time for actual collaboration, and treating our commitments to each other like contracts — so when someone says they'll have something done, they usually do.

None of this means the work isn't demanding. Caxy takes on challenging, meaningful projects, and we expect people to show up and do good work. But there's a real difference between a job that's hard because the work matters and a job that's hard because the pace is unsustainable. We're aiming for the former.

Caxy's Candidate Tradeoffs

If you’re weighing whether Caxy is the right fit, these are the core tradeoffs to consider.

  • Caxy places greater emphasis on meaningful, high-impact work that shapes outcomes than on roles with lighter expectations.

What People Are Saying About Caxy

  • Sustainable Pace: Policies describe a roughly 40-hour norm with no “crunch time,” no midnight deployments, and reasonable deadlines to keep work bounded. Public company profiles echo a sustainable cadence, including early Fridays when projects are healthy.
  • Remote or Hybrid Flexibility: Published schedules outline remote Mondays and Fridays with in-office collaboration midweek, alongside flexible start times. This arrangement is framed to support focus time and accommodate personal needs.
  • Time Off Access: Statements emphasize that vacation should be used without guilt, with tiered PTO, paid holidays, and sabbatical options. Early-Friday practices and explicit encouragement to disconnect reinforce access to recovery time.
