Build and scale backend trading and money-movement systems for a financial services platform. Design software components, optimize distributed systems, maintain stability and security, and support regulatory risk checks. Collaborate across engineering teams, lead projects, balance delivery with quality, and mentor other engineers.

Manage and mentor a team of 6–8 backend engineers building scalable trading technology. Provide technical guidance through code reviews, architecture decisions, and stakeholder collaboration while balancing delivery speed, reliability, maintainability, and regulatory correctness. Generate and qualify outbound sales opportunities for Betterment’s retirement and advisor solutions. Responsibilities include prospect list building, cold calling, email and LinkedIn outreach, understanding prospect needs, communicating qualified opportunities to Account Executives, meeting pipeline targets, using Salesforce and prospecting tools, and providing market feedback to marketing and product teams.

Own revenue operations analytics, forecasting, executive reporting, QBRs, quota and target planning, and large-dataset analysis. Build scalable reporting infrastructure, internal tools, dashboards, data models, and AI-assisted workflows. Partner with Business Systems and Data Engineering to improve CRM data quality and operational processes, while presenting actionable insights to go-to-market leadership.

Support semi-monthly payroll processing and benefits administration for employees. Responsibilities include reconciling timesheets and payroll inputs, processing adjustments, administering benefit enrollments and life events, coordinating open enrollment, reconciling invoices, maintaining confidential HRIS records, assisting with ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and leave compliance, answering employee questions, and generating reports.

Administer 401(k) compliance activities, including annual testing packages, employer contribution calculations, plan reconciliations, Form 5500 preparation, audit support, plan amendments, conversions, and error corrections. Draft plan documents, maintain procedures and controls, investigate operational issues, and collaborate with client experience, engineering, product, and design teams to improve scalable processes and client outcomes.

Support month-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis; manage fixed assets, prepaids, and revenue; drive process improvements; prepare audit documentation and respond to auditors; develop scalable accounting processes and handle ad-hoc finance requests.

Execute Betterment’s organic social strategy across multiple business lines by drafting, creating, editing, scheduling, publishing, and monitoring content. Coordinate compliance approvals, maintain documentation, track engagement and performance metrics, support product launches and marketing initiatives, and identify social trends. Create engaging, accessible content that explains complex financial topics while maintaining a consistent brand voice across platforms.

Lead cross-team technical programs and roadmaps for platform engineering capabilities, partnering with SRE, developer experience, security, API, authentication, and product engineering teams. Define priorities, tradeoffs, milestones, adoption strategies, and success metrics while managing risks, dependencies, migrations, standards, reliability, security, and operational improvements. Communicate technical decisions and progress to engineers, stakeholders, and executives.

Execute B2B growth marketing campaigns for Betterment at Work across email, social, webinars, content, partnerships, and events. Responsibilities include building nurture campaigns, segmenting audiences, drafting copy, coordinating creative and compliance approvals, managing webinar logistics and follow-up, supporting content distribution, and reporting campaign performance. The role partners closely with acquisition marketing and enterprise sales teams to generate leads, build awareness, and nurture qualified prospects.

Manage the end-to-end monthly commission cycle, administer ICM platform configuration and data integrations, model and operationalize compensation plans, produce commission and payout reporting, improve processes and automation, and resolve compensation inquiries across Sales, Finance, HR, Payroll, and Revenue Operations.

Lead Betterment's Application Security squad to enable secure-by-default development: build guardrails, threat modeling, design reviews, vulnerability management, and developer tooling; mentor senior engineers; drive roadmap and cross-functional partnerships; and incorporate AI to scale AppSec operations.

Lead and optimize end-to-end commercial workflows across Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience. Own Deal Desk decisions, pricing and promotions, contract approvals, and monthly audits.
