Our Space Weather Follow On – L1 (SWFO-L1) and Carruthers Geocorona Observatory satellites built for NOAA and NASA successfully launched in September 2025 from Kennedy Space Center. Each observatory is equipped with our radiation-hardened single-board computer to guide them on their missions. BAE Systems designed and built both spacecraft to provide scientists and forecasters with powerful new instruments. The Carruthers Geocorona Observatory will work to increase our understanding of the Sun’s effects on the Earth’s exosphere — the outermost layer of the atmosphere — while SWFO-L1 will observe space weather and its impacts.

The Carruthers Geocorona Observatory and SWFO-L1 satellites will study and monitor space weather and its impact on Earth’s exosphere.

Missile Warning & Tracking
Missile Warning & Tracking Image
In 2025, BAE Systems was awarded a contract by U.S. Space Systems Command to provide the U.S. Space Force with missile tracking satellite capabilities. BAE Systems will serve as the prime contractor for the Resilient Missile Warning & Tracking (RMWT) – Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) Epoch 2 program and will design and build 10 spacecraft over the agreement. The program will provide resilient, space-based missile warning and tracking of ballistic missiles and advanced threats, such as hypersonic glide vehicles. BAE Systems will also develop the ground system that will manage the satellite constellation by delivering mission management, command and control (C2) and mission operations solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

The program will advance warfighter capabilities by supporting continuous delivery of mission data to seamlessly integrate with operational missile defense systems.
