Digital Engineering for Impact

For nearly a quarter century, BAE Systems has used digital engineering to enhance key aspects of our combat capability development and production. This approach has evolved to a more holistic enterprise-wide approach, where we are focusing our digital expertise on the most important aspects of combat platforms. We have emphasized digitizing the most impactful and rapidly-evolving elements on our combat-proven vehicles: mission equipment such as targeting systems, counter-UAS sensors, turret systems and communications technologies on which the Soldiers rely.

Acceleration of key capabilities is a core focus of our Virtual Proving Ground (VPG) facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan, which is focused on capability integration and a modular open systems approach. Using the power of synthetic environments, we’re able to perform digital testing and integration of new capabilities onto combat platforms.

Protecting the Fleet

We are a leading provider of ship repair, maintenance, and modernization services to the U.S. Navy’s fleet of combatant ships in their homeports; refit and hauling services for commercial and privately held vessels; and fabrication services for the submarine industrial base. The company operates three full-service shipyards in California, Florida, and Virginia, and offers a highly skilled, experienced workforce; a large team of suppliers and subcontractors; seven dry docks and railways; and significant pier space and ship support services.

Completed in 2025, BAE Systems' new ship lift complex increased dry docking capacity by 300 percent, making it one of the ten largest shiplift systems in the world and the largest in the Americas in order to meet the needs of the mission.

Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle
Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Image
The AMPV is the U.S. Army’s program to replace the Vietnam War-era and legacy M113 Family of Vehicles. The program is essential to the future of the Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) and will fulfill the Army’s strategy of protection, mobility, reliability, and interoperability. The AMPV will be integrated with the ABCT and is required to operate alongside the M1 Abrams tank and the M2 Bradley. The Army has identified the AMPV as its top priority for the safety and survivability of soldiers and therefore meets tough protection requirements. The AMPV leverages aspects of the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle and M109A7 self-propelled howitzer, furthering commonality in the ABCT fleet of vehicles.

The Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) is an American-made family of next-generation vehicles essential to the future of the U.S. Army.
