Leads the Assembly of First Nations’ Justice sector, advancing First Nations-led justice systems, legal traditions, community safety, prevention, and implementation of the MMIWG Calls for Justice and TRC Calls to Action. Develops policy and strategic advice, advocates with governments and partners, represents AFN, manages a professional team, coordinates cross-sector initiatives, and prepares reports and presentations. The role is primarily office-based in Ottawa with regular travel and occasional evening or weekend work.

Conduct research on First Nations homelessness policies and best practices; develop policy proposals and recommendations; evaluate regulations; consult with government, educational, and First Nations partners; prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations; present findings; maintain stakeholder relationships; monitor emerging issues; and support working groups, meetings, and organizational work plans. The role is primarily office-based in Ottawa, with regular travel and flexible evening or weekend hours as needed.

Conducts research and analysis on First Nations justice priorities, including policing, community safety, restorative justice, legal reform, and rights-based governance. Develops policy recommendations, maintains datasets, drafts briefing materials, supports consultations and stakeholder relationships, and leads sector-specific projects. The role also provides procurement and project-management support, coordinates engagements, and contributes to national advocacy positions and First Nations-led justice frameworks. Occasional travel, flexible hours, and community engagement are required.

Conducts research and analyzes complex AI policy issues affecting First Nations, including AI governance and data sovereignty. Develops recommendations, policy papers, resolutions, briefings, reports, and presentations; engages First Nations, governments, and AI stakeholders; coordinates committees and working groups; monitors parliamentary committees; supports advocacy strategies and funding reports; and attends meetings and events requiring frequent travel.

Conduct research and policy analysis to develop recommendations supporting First Nations priorities; manage datasets, draft briefing notes and reports, lead stakeholder engagement and consultations, and provide project management for sector-specific initiatives and procurement. Build intergovernmental and community relationships and support strategic planning.

Provide administrative and clerical support to the Water Sector Director: manage files and databases, coordinate travel and meetings, prepare correspondence and minutes, process financial paperwork, reconcile budgets, and serve as a contact for internal and external stakeholders.
