Lead customer transmission projects from initial request through Alberta Utilities Commission approval. Responsibilities include defining scope, budget, schedule, and requirements; coordinating multidisciplinary internal teams, customers, AESO, consultants, and contractors; managing risks, costs, quality, compliance, and schedules; preparing connection and facility applications; supporting regulatory proceedings; reporting project status; and transitioning approved projects to delivery teams.

Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot high-voltage transmission substations from 4.16kV to 500kV. The role supports maintenance planning, equipment status reporting, capital upgrades, emergency response, safe work planning, new substation technologies, and mentoring apprentices. Candidates must have electrical technologist training, strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, safety awareness, physical fitness, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and willingness to work at heights, in adverse weather, out of town, and on call.

Manages financial controls for AltaLink’s transmission project portfolio, including estimates, forecasts, budgets, billings, accruals, invoices, change orders, and closeout. Maintains project data in SAP, prepares capital cost reports, validates forecasts, supports regulatory and governance compliance, and coordinates with project managers, schedulers, procurement, finance, contractors, and EPCM providers. The role also provides quality assurance, coaches junior analysts, and supports project and program reviews.

Develops, validates, maintains, and submits transmission-system and electrical-equipment models for AESO compliance. Responsibilities include preparing modeling data packages, line-impedance calculations, facility-rating reports, capacity assessments, power-flow and short-circuit analyses, and supporting interconnection studies. The role collaborates with AESO and internal stakeholders, maintains auditable records, and improves modeling processes for reliable Alberta transmission-system operation.

Provide operational meteorological forecasting, weather intelligence, and decision support for wildfire mitigation, field operations, and a 24/7 control centre. Own weather tools, models, station network, and wildfire detection cameras; interpret fire weather risk and deliver clear operational guidance, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in forecasting processes and situational awareness.

Designs electrical substations from 25kV to 500kV, including site and bus layouts, equipment installation, grounding, protection, controls, metering, and related studies. Develops engineering scopes, estimates costs and timelines, specifies materials and equipment, reviews contractor designs, and supports construction and commissioning. Coordinates with internal teams, suppliers, partners, and customers while ensuring compliance with industry and AltaLink standards.

The Sr Substation Engineer will manage lifecycle maintenance engineering for substation equipment, leading assessments and improvement initiatives to optimize performance and reliability.

Perform lifecycle assessments and condition monitoring for telecom equipment in the transmission system. Develop maintenance standards, troubleshooting procedures, sparing and replacement plans, investigate systemic defects, support preventative maintenance programs, and collaborate with field staff, vendors and internal stakeholders to improve reliability and optimize cost, risk and performance.
