If you’re interested in breaking into tech, learning to code can give you a competitive edge. Many develop their skills through formal education, such as pursuing a degree in computer science, but others opt for coding bootcamps and other non-traditional learning opportunities. Coursera is an online learning platform that offers subscription access to thousands of courses. Its library of coding courses includes both introductory overviews for coding novices — like “Coding for Everyone”—  and expert-level professional development for established software developers — like “IBM Full Stack Software Developer.”

 

Revature is a tech talent development company that provides substantial training, on-the-job experience with real client work and support through the initial stages of a career in software development. It functions as a headhunter, skills training program and employment agency, while simultaneously serving tech employers’ talent acquisition needs.

Pursuit recruits talent to become Pursuit Fellows, who are trained to work as software engineers and typically land paying jobs upon completing the program. The company maintains partnerships with hiring companies that range from well-funded tech startups to established enterprise companies that pull from Pursuit’s talent pool when they hire. 

 

App Academy runs coding bootcamps that can range from 16 - 48 weeks, during which time students attend accelerated coding classes and practice their new skills. Students can choose in-person or remote classes, as well as part-time or full-time programs. They also have the option of deferring tuition payments until they land a job after graduation.

 

BrainStation is a digital skills training company that serves students and aspiring tech workers with skills-based instruction in an array of technical vocations, from data science and product management to UX/UI design and web development.
