Origina, a Dublin-based third-party software support company, opened a U.S. headquarters in Plano earlier this week.
Launched in 2012 by Tomás O’Leary, Origina started out as a partner of IBM selling software but eventually created its own software to offer additional maintenance and security to IBM’s technology.
“Origina’s experience working as an IBM SWMA reseller and building an enhanced support offering on top of it gave the company the insights and experience needed to build a fully independent service,” read an excerpt on the Origina’s website.
Among its clients, Origina has worked with companies like Neiman Marcus, Magellan Health and Academy Sports.
Before opening its U.S. headquarters, Origina had previously opened a headquarters in Dublin and another in London. Origina’s move to North Texas stems from the region’s business-friendly policies and the numerous other tech companies in the area, O’Leary told The Dallas Morning News.
“If you think about anything to do with technology, it really is designed to be complex when it shouldn’t be. So our message is about simplicity and unraveling that complexity, and you couldn’t be in a better place than Texas,” O’Leary told The Dallas Morning News.
Already operational, Origina’s Plano office is currently staffed with 23 employees. O’Leary hopes to build out a team of 80 by 2023 by tapping into the region’s workforce and also hiring across the country.
Origina isn’t the only company moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth metro. In fact, it follows the recent trend of companies relocating to Texas and the DFW metro in particular. In the second half of the year alone, big companies such as Verily, a Google parent subsidiary, and PepsiCo have both opened hubs in the region. Other tech companies that have recently relocated to the DFW include, AECOM and Xcelerate Auto, among others.
