Anthropic has announced a $50 billion investment in building data centers in partnership with New York-based AI infrastructure company FluidstackThe project, which is slated to create 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs, will initially establish sites in Texas and New York, and additional locations are expected to be announced in the future.

Anthropic is responsible for developing the AI assistant Claude and serves more than 300,000 business customers. The company anticipates the new data centers will come online throughout 2026 to maximize efficiency for its workloads and advance frontier research and development.

According to Anthropic, the data center buildout is meant to contribute to the goals laid out in President Donald Trump’s AI Action Plan, which largely focused on ways to boost the United States’ AI dominance and infrastructure.

“We’re getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren’t possible before. Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier. These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that can drive those breakthroughs, while creating American jobs,” Anthropic Co-Founder and CEO Dario Amodei said in a statement.
