The Staff Platform Engineer will enhance internal development tools and workflows, focusing on developer efficiency, CI/CD automation, monitoring, and mentoring team members while architecting scalable applications.

Lead technical reliability initiatives across a multi-cloud, multi-region active-active content platform. Architect and evolve core services, observability and logging, automation and capacity planning. Mentor engineers, drive cross-team reliability projects, define standards (IaC, SLOs, on-call) and proactively improve platform scalability and incident outcomes.

Lead design and ownership of GCP and Cloudflare infrastructure, implement Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code, evolve monitoring and alerting, participate in 24/7 on-call rotation, improve build and deployment pipelines, mentor engineers, and drive cross-team architecture and execution.

The role involves managing and optimizing infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes, ensuring system reliability and observability, and collaborating with software engineers to enhance operational excellence.

You will design and implement scalable infrastructure for AI/ML applications, develop data pipelines, optimize system performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Own end-to-end cloud and AI cost optimization: right-size EC2, manage reservations/spot, storage tiering, build dashboards, reduce LLM token spend, codify standards with Terraform, and partner with engineering and finance to forecast and enforce cost-efficient architectures.

Design and implement scalable backend services and distributed data systems. Build and maintain ETL pipelines and data warehousing, enforce data contracts, and manage cloud infrastructure (primarily GCP). Lead system architecture, mentor engineers, own operational on-call responsibilities, and collaborate with product, bioinformatics, and ML teams to enable secure, compliant data and compute workflows for research and clinical use.

Define and scale reliability practices across the company by creating SLO/SLA frameworks, improving observability, evolving incident response, building self-service tooling and scorecards, and driving cross-team adoption to enable teams to build and operate reliable production systems at scale.

Own and implement platform initiatives to improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience. Automate infrastructure with IaC, operate Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines, build developer tools, monitor platform resilience, participate in incident response, and influence architecture and processes as you grow.

Lead design and implementation of reliability, observability, and CI/CD for Airflow/Astronomer pipelines and containerized workloads on AWS/Kubernetes. Build monitoring, alerting, SLOs, inference instrumentation, operational tooling, runbooks, and automate toil while partnering with data and engineering teams to scale production ML and data pipelines.
