Your new role: XR Studio Manager

We’re looking for an XR / Virtual Production Studio Manager to join the team, based at our Leicester Square office with a focus on smooth operation of our brand new state-of-the-art XR studio.

This is a role for someone with strong technical studio video experience, particularly with virtual production workflows and ideally experience using Disguise software and hardware.

You’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality XR and visual content, supporting multi-camera workflows, vision mixing, routing, lighting and record/playback systems. You’ll also help improve the way the team works through workflow automation, documentation and practical problem-solving.

This will largely be a 9 to 5 role, though there may occasionally be a need to work outside of these hours to support shoots, OBs and/or recordings.

We’re looking for someone who is a strong problem solver, critical thinker and quick learner, with the ability to carry out their own learning and research as well as perform well in structured training.

Key Responsibilities

Studio Operations & Coordination (50%)

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the XR / virtual production stage, ensuring the studio is fully production-ready for every shoot.

  • Act as the key point of contact for productions booked into the XR studio, briefing directors and DPs on the stage’s capabilities and constraints.

  • Coordinate with our Production Management team to ensure smooth operational flow across bookings with kit and crew.

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Podcasts, Radio and the wider Video team to ensure the studio meets the business’ production needs.

  • The ability to prioritise tasks effectively and adapt quickly when plans, schedules or requirements change.

XR / Virtual Production Systems & Operation (30%)

  • Operate and configure Disguise media servers and show files to drive real-time camera tracking, rendering and playback for XR productions.

  • Oversee Stype RedSpy 5.0 motion-tracked camera systems – alongside RED V-Raptor X cameras, ensuring accurate calibration and reliable integration with the Disguise pipeline.

  • Manage LED volume/wall calibration, colour matching and genlock across the video and camera signal chain.

  • Work with modern multi-camera video technology, including vision mixers, routers, record/playback systems and PTZ (Sony FR7) camera systems.

  • Support camera and lighting setups for virtual production, including understanding of formats, codecs, exposure and DMX lighting systems.

Vendor Management & Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • Maintain relationships with Disguise and other key equipment vendors, staying current with software updates, firmware and best practice.

  • Build and refine workflow automation, macros and pipeline efficiencies, particularly within Disguise’s Designer software.

Troubleshooting, Documentation & Communication (10%)

  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively, from tracking dropouts to render or playback issues, in a fast-moving production environment.

  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including studio SOPs, calibration guides and crew training materials.

  • Communicate technical information clearly, adapting the level of detail for audiences ranging from crew to senior production and talent.

What You’ll Love About This Role

  • Think Big: Push the boundaries of XR and virtual production, shaping how Global’s new studio pioneers immersive storytelling.

  • Own It: Take ownership of one of the most advanced XR stages in broadcast, powered by Disguise and RED V-Raptor X cameras.

  • Keep it Simple: Build workflows and automations that make complex virtual production simple for yourself and the rest of the team.

  • Better Together: Collaborate with all sides of the Global team including Engineering, Video, Podcasts and Radio.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Built a strong understanding of the XR studio environment, its Disguise pipeline and camera tracking workflows.

  • Become a trusted, reliable operator for the smooth running of the XR stage.

  • Supported efficient productions, with proactive issue resolution and minimal downtime.

  • Identified and helped implement workflow and calibration improvements.

  • Built strong relationships with teams across Engineering, Video, Production, Podcasts and Radio.

  • Contributed useful documentation and knowledge-sharing across the team.

  • Demonstrated confidence in learning new Disguise features, camera systems and workflows quickly.
