Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with several business functions as the liaison with the U.S. Government regarding the timely export licensing of defense articles and services and commercial goods in support of Allison’s international defense business.
  • Coordinate with Departments of State and Commerce, leading meetings as required to resolve export regulatory issues
  • Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings concerning proposed international business and defense sales
  • Provide guidance to business function export personnel on export licensing requirements, applicability of exemptions, and potential policy issues associated with international defense business. Participate with and provide subject matter expertise to business functions in the development of licensing strategies
  • Draft and review export license applications 
  • Maintain frequent contact and develop working relationships with USG personnel, internal business customers and industry peers
  • Develop expertise on U.S. export laws and serve as a center of excellence on those laws
  • Provide training on the implementation of U.S. export laws and regulations associated with an export internal compliance plan
  • Assist and support the Export Controls Administrator, as required, to implement the Corporation’s export policies and procedures and investigate matters related to their application. May support corporate Audit, Legal and Ethics/Compliance departments, as required.

Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person or individual otherwise eligible to be authorized to work with export-controlled items.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate information effectively to all levels of a business
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to exercise initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives and elevate matters to leadership at appropriate times

Experience

  • Minimum of three years of general compliance experience
  • Well-developed investigative and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt, taking on new roles and comfort learning new areas of the law
  • Preferred: Prior export controls compliance experience.
