Under the direction of the Director of Learning and Development, the Workforce Development Training Coordinator- SUD implements clinical and substance use disorder onboarding, training, and workforce support for new employees and provides continuing education and support for tenured staff. The position serves as a training subject matter expert for substance use disorder services, including co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders, overdose prevention, medication assisted treatment, other evidence-informed substance use programs, community resources, and use of the Clinical Management for Behavioral Health Services system. This position will be required to train and support workforce in the accurate and timely use of the CMBHS website and system, including navigation, required data entry, documentation workflows, service and program records, correction processes, and agency-approved practices for maintaining complete and compliant records.
The SUD Training Coordinator develops and delivers training aligned with agency policy and procedure, program contracts, regulatory and state requirements, and person-directed, trauma-informed, and culturally and linguistically appropriate service models. The SUD Training Coordinator teaches staff to recognize, understand, and appropriately respond to co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders, including how behavioral health symptoms and substance use may interact and affect screening, engagement, treatment planning, referral, coordination, documentation, and continuity of care. Training is delivered through classroom instruction, small-group and individual coaching, and real-time field support. The SUD Training Coordinator assesses learner understanding and skill through methods such as knowledge checks, demonstrations, scenarios, documentation exercises, observation, and follow-up support; and communicate training concerns and support needs through established channels. When needed, Collaborate with clinical leaders, program managers, quality and compliance staff, and other subject matter experts to support consistent onboarding, role readiness, and continuing workforce development. The SUD Training Coordinator will maintain an accurate and current training tracker or spreadsheet for CCBHC measures and other required program metrics, including the number and type of SUD-specific trainings delivered to individual learners. The SUD Training Coordinator will serve as a backup trainer and complete cross-training in multiple programs to ensure continuity of training operations.
Qualifications- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field from a four-year university.
- Bachelor’s degree must meet Texas Administrative Code requirements for a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Clinical Services (QMHP-CS).
- Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work preferred.
- Texas Licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) preferred.
- Three years clinical experience in a community mental health setting providing services to those with serious mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of person-centered care, crisis management, cultural competency and CLAS standards, care coordination and trauma informed care.
- Must have current Texas driver’s license.
- Has at least one year experience in program training, supervision, and/or support preferred.
