The Workday Developer supports the design, development, and maintenance of integrations between Workday and third-party systems. This role contributes to integration initiatives across the development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design support, development, testing, and deployment, while working under guidance from senior team members.
This position focuses on executing defined tasks, troubleshooting integration issues, and supporting ongoing enhancements to ensure reliable system performance and alignment with business needs. The role requires not only technical execution, but also an understanding of how integrations support and impact business processes and data flow.
Essential Functions
- Assist in gathering and analyzing requirements for Workday integrations including understanding the purpose of the integration and how it supports business processes
- Support development of integrations using Workday tools such as EIB, Core Connectors, and Studio
- Participate in integration lifecycle activities including design, development, testing (integration/UAT), and deployment
- Monitor integration runs and assist in troubleshooting errors and resolving issues, including identifying potential upstream or downstream data impacts
- Support implementation of new integrations and enhancements to existing integrations
- Provide day-to-day support for Workday integrations, including issue resolution and maintenance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior developers to deliver integration solutions
- Maintain documentation for integrations, including technical specifications and support procedures
- Stay current on Workday features and integration best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Business Management, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources or equivalent experience
- 2-4 years of experience with Workday integrations including EIB, Core Connectors, and/or Studio, or equivalent work experience
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Workday business objects, business processes, and web services and ability to follow and understand end-to-end data flow across systems, with guidance
- Familiarity with XML, XSLT, and Workday Web Services (WWS)
- Exposure to REST and/or SOAP-based APIs
- Foundational understanding of one or more Workday HCM modules (e.g., Core HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting)
- Ability to troubleshoot integration issues with guidance
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical team members
- Demonstrates curiosity and asks clarifying questions to understand business context, not just technical requirements
