JOB SUMMARY
The Workday Architect leads the design, configuration, and governance of our Workday tenant. This role is critical to ensuring our Workday environment supports the complex and evolving needs of a modern higher education institution, including Human Capital Management (HCM), Financials, Payroll, and Student. Serving as a key member of the enterprise systems team, works collaboratively across administrative and academic units to align tenant architecture with institutional goals—supporting operational excellence, compliance, and strategic transformation.
This role is hybrid and in the office a minimum of three days a week to facilitate collaboration and teamwork. In-office presence is an essential part of our on-campus culture and allows for engaging directly with staff and students, sharing ideas, and contributing to a dynamic work environment. Being on-site allows for stronger connections, more effective problem-solving, and enhanced team synergy, all of which are key to achieving our collective goals and driving success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of Workday experience, including tenant architecture, configuration, and security.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least two Workday functional areas, such as HCM, Financials, or Payroll.
- Workday certifications strongly preferred (e.g., Workday Pro, Workday Certified Architect, HCM/Finance/Security).
- Strong knowledge of Workday integration tools and frameworks (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, APIs).
- Experience with Workday Student or experience implementing enterprise systems in higher education
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Lead the architectural design and governance of the Workday tenant, ensuring alignment with higher education requirements and best practices. Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and future-proof tenant configurations across all Workday domains (HCM, Financials, Payroll, Student). 55%
2) Serve as the architectural liaison between functional leads, IT, and Workday translating institutional needs into sustainable tenant solutions. 10%
3) Manage security design and access controls to support the unique privacy and compliance standards of a higher education environment. 10%
4) Oversee configuration change processes and maintain environment integrity across production, sandbox, and implementation tenants. Maintain detailed documentation of tenant architecture, decision frameworks, configuration inventories, and audit logs. 20%
5) Lead peer reviews and provide technical mentorship to Workday analysts and support staff. 5%

$112,180.00 - $162,662.50With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
