Job Summary:
The Work Coordinator serves as the primary production support leader for the department by coordinating daily workflow, monitoring production progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Lucchese quality standards. Working under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this position provides day-to-day guidance to production employees, communicates production priorities, resolves operational issues, and helps maintain a productive, collaborative work environment.
The Work Coordinator acts as a resource for employees by reinforcing standard work, supporting training efforts, identifying production barriers, and escalating issues requiring supervisory involvement.
Scope of Job:
The Work Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily production activities to support departmental goals for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and efficiency. This role monitors workflow, balances production priorities, communicates operational updates, and provides coaching and guidance to employees while partnering closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor.
This position does not have direct disciplinary authority but is expected to provide feedback regarding employee performance, attendance concerns, training needs, and operational opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Work coordinator Operator will perform the following operations on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities may be modified to meet business needs:
Production Coordination
• Coordinate daily production activities to ensure workflow meets established schedules and priorities.
• Monitor production throughout the shift and identify bottlenecks, delays, or material shortages.
• Ensure work is distributed appropriately to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Support production startup and shutdown activities.
• Verify materials, tools, equipment, and workstations are available and ready for production.
• Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, and operational updates to employees.
• Assist with implementing production plans established by Manufacturing leadership.
Operational Excellence
• Monitor adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.
• Report equipment, quality, or production concerns promptly to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
• Assist with inventory accuracy and proper material flow within the department.
• Help minimize downtime through proactive coordination and communication.
Quality
• Reinforce Lucchese quality standards throughout the production process.
• Monitor work to ensure products meet established quality expectations.
• Identify quality concerns early and coordinate corrective actions with leadership.
• Ensure quality issues are communicated promptly to the appropriate departments.
Team Leadership & Support
• Provide daily guidance, direction, and support to production employees.
• Assist with training and onboarding new employees.
• Reinforce productivity expectations and standard work practices.
• Promote teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and mutual respect.
• Recognize employee accomplishments and encourage continuous improvement.
• Serve as a communication link between employees and Manufacturing leadership.
Safety & Compliance
• Promote a safe working environment by reinforcing company safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor work areas for potential safety hazards and report concerns immediately.
• Encourage proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support safety initiatives and participate in departmental safety meetings.
Communication
• Communicate effectively with Manufacturing Supervisors, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Planning, and other departments.
• Provide updates regarding production status, staffing needs, and operational challenges.
• Participate in shift meetings, production meetings, and daily operational reviews.
Administrative Support
• Assist with production documentation and reporting.
• Monitor production metrics and communicate performance against goals.
• Support attendance tracking and communicate staffing concerns to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two (2) years of manufacturing experience.
• Previous experience serving as a lead, coordinator, trainer, or senior production employee preferred.
• Experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement is a plus.
