PRIMARY DUTIES: The Women and Children’s Program Manager is a leadership position to develop, scale and promote programs that support patients during pregnancy and early parenthood as well as pediatric patients. Such programs aim to improve maternal health outcomes with a specific focus on population health. The Manager’s primary objective is to oversee programs that will work to disproportionate differences in health outcomes.   Current programs include perinatal education, lactation education and support, maternal behavioral health support, and Centering (group prenatal care).  The Manager reviews data at least annually to determine evidence-based interventions and to guide new programs. 

The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting families before, during and immediately following pregnancy with a specific interest in maximizing support for those who have been historically underserved. This candidate would comfortably be able to create connections with people of varied educational backgrounds and cultures. Lastly, this candidate would have experience in caring for women and babies. Specific duties include: 

Assist, develop, implement and manage programs 

Develop culturally appropriate educational interventions, including targeted health education messages.  

Facilitate patient access by assisting in scheduling services within WFM 

Assist patients and potential patients in overcoming barriers to attending scheduled office visits      

Evaluate data to develop and pilot evidence-based interventions 

Coordinate WFM’s involvement in local, regional and national efforts relevant to the focus population, including but not limited to involvement in 

  • Healthy Women & Children Coalition 
  • Centering Pregnancy/Parenting  

 

Assist the Director of Women’s Health in coordination of lactation programs, perinatal education, and centering 

Additional projects as determined by Director of Women’s Health 

 

OTHER DUTIES: Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Visual and auditory accuracy 

  • Shift length - 8 hours 

  • Indoor setting 

  • Continuous use of computer and calculator 

  • Long periods of sitting 

  • Frequent use of telephone 

  • Continuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both hands 

  • Continuous conversational communication 

  • Occasional reaching, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting and climbing 

  • Occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs. 

  • Occasionally working in confined, noisy, dusty areas 

  • Frequent use of personal car 

  • Understand/carry out simple/detailed, oral/written instructions 

  • Memorize and retain instructions 

  • Read and interpret detailed specifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Experience in partnering with and caring for people during pregnancy and early parenthood. Such experience could include but is not limited to lactation support, counseling, or perinatal education. Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with community-based organizations.  Experience in using data to make evidence-based decisions.  In most cases, a candidate with this experience is likely to have a master's degree. 

SKILLS: The director should possess: 

  • Extensive understanding and appreciation of cultural differences among key subpopulations served by Waco Family Medicine 

  • Strong command of and proficiency in written & verbal communications, including effective & efficient presentation skills. 

  • Efficiency in organizational and planning skills, as reflected in the abilities to prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and produce timely, accurate, and quality results in a sustainable fashion 

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.   

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.   

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.   

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.   

  • Ability to perform in a cross-functional team approach and with shared job responsibilities

  • Proficiency in problem-solving, strategic plan development, population needs assessment, team leadership, public health education and program process and outcome evaluation. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 

Skills Required
