XCOM RAN delivers a next-generation Radio Access Network platform designed to deliver secure, high-performance private wireless connectivity for enterprises and government organizations. XCOM RAN has an advanced software-defined architecture and enables the creation of wide-area “Supercells” that eliminate handoffs and optimize throughput. The solution is engineered for mission-critical environments where reliability, scalability, and low-latency performance are essential, from smart logistics and industrial automation to defense, emergency response, and more.
What you’ll be doing
As a RF Wireless Systems Engineer (5G), you will work as part of a team developing solutions that solve complex and challenging problems spanning diverse industries and verticals. This involves cross-layer RF system design and optimization, modeling, and performance analysis at the rf digital boundary. The successful candidate is expected to have a deep knowledge of the 3GPP/FCC requirements of LTE and NR air interfaces, with hands-on expertise in both lab environments and algorithm development.
What you will bring to XCOM RAN by Globalstar
- MSEE with at least 5 years of experience with wireless systems design and engineering, OR BSEE with at least 7+ years of experience with wireless systems design and engineering.
- Detailed knowledge of wireless communication systems, including physical layer signal processing and RF transceiver architectures.
- Recent and direct knowledge of 3GPP 4G/5G RAN specifications, including conformance test requirements and procedures.
- Experience working on LTE/NR productization or standardization.
- Proficiency with RF and vector signal test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, for system validation and debug.
- Experience with digital filter analysis and design using MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools, including hands-on algorithm development, evaluation, and product integration.
- Hands-on experience implementing or optimizing RF transmitter algorithms such as Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD), Automatic Gain Control (AGC), and Crest Factor Reduction (CFR).
- Experience debugging RF systems, including receiver and transmitter performance, noise figure, transmit linearity, and distortion.
- Knowledge of PLLs, RF noise figure, transmit linearity, and distortion characteristics in wireless transceiver systems.
It’s a bonus if you have:
- Experience with link budget analysis or system performance modeling.
- Experience attending or contributing to 3GPP RAN working groups, particularly RAN4.
- Familiarity with OTA (Over-the-Air) conformance testing methodologies and test chambers.
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed, particularly during launch campaigns, anomaly response, and critical mission events
- Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
- Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
- Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
- Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job
