Job Title: Wellness Representative (Nights & Weekends)

Primary Function/Department:  Health and Wellbeing

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Health and Wellbeing Director

Leadership Level:  Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Representative monitors the Well-Being Center to ensure guidelines are being followed.  The incumbent conducts fitness orientations as scheduled.  The employee also acts as a liaison and an advocate for YMCA Health & Well-Being programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance
2. Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors
3. Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers
4. Attends staff meetings and approved trainings as required
5. Responsible for cleanliness and safety of Fitness Floor space and equipment and reports equipment problems when they occur
6. Ensures member safety, responds to, and reports all accidents and incidents
7. Conveys basic knowledge of all YMCA Health and Wellness program areas to participants and refers members to the appropriate program director or staff when appropriate
8. Tracks, monitors, evaluates and transitions program participants when needed
9. May assist or lead Fitness Center Orientation and Youth Fitness 101 Training

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school education or equivalent preferred.  Two or more years of experience customer service, or equivalent preferred.

Must be able to work Nights and Weekends.

Upon hire:

• Current Child & Infant and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid certification must be obtained within 30-days of hire and be current throughout length of employment. 

South Sound YMCA’s - New Employee Orientation must be completed within 45-days of hire.  Obtained within the first 90-days:

• The following Y-USA courses must be completed: Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y within 30 days of hire, Wellness Center at the Y within 30 days of hire. Foundations of Listen First within 90 days of hire.

• Ability to set up, move and store excersise equipment and lift up to 45 lbs.  Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

• Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
