The USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy is seeking a skilled Web Developer III to lead the design, development, and implementation of front-end and back-end software for the division’s websites. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and architectural guidance for web-based platform migration and establish best practices for web design and security. You will collaborate closely with designers, university teams, and junior staff to ensure optimal performance and user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of complex web-based systems, including object-oriented analysis and design.
- Design and implement front-end and back-end website systems.
- Establish and communicate best practices for web design, development, and security within the division.
- Collaborate with designers and other teams to discuss and implement new features.
- Lead the resolution of technical support issues and resolve bugs.
- Oversee project plans, schedules, and staffing/resource requirements.
- Stay informed about emerging web development technologies and trends.
- Mentor junior staff members, providing leadership and guidance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in web development (5 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, web servers, web applications, programming languages, web content management systems, and search engine optimization.
- Experience with both front-end and back-end website design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with website security protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading web development projects in an academic or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of usability engineering and web performance optimization.
- Experience working with content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms.

The annual base salary range for this position is $ $102,576.72 to $120,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
