We are seeking a technically strong and operationally focused Vice President to join our Wealth Management Technology team in Chennai. This role is centered on the ownership and management of core operational data across one or more of the following critical domains: client and account data, financial data, and documents data. You will be responsible for ensuring that the data underpinning our wealth management operations is accurate, timely, complete, and fit for purpose across all consuming systems and processes.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on data professional with deep experience in managing operational data at scale within financial services. You understand the nuances of client lifecycle data, financial transactions, and document management, and you have a proven track record of building robust, reliable data pipelines and services. This role requires a meticulous, detail-oriented engineer who takes pride in the quality and integrity of the data they own.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Data Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of operational data within one or more of the following domains:
- Client & Account Data: Management of core client profiles, account structures, entitlements, and associated reference data.
- Financial Data: Ownership of transactional, position, and balance data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all downstream systems.
- Documents Data: Management of the ingestion, indexing, storage, and retrieval of critical wealth management documents (e.g., account agreements, statements, tax documents).
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, validation, and distribution of operational data across the wealth management ecosystem.
- Data Quality & Integrity: Implement and enforce rigorous data quality controls, validation rules, and monitoring to ensure the highest standards of data accuracy and completeness.
- API & Data Services: Develop and manage data services and APIs that provide reliable, real-time access to operational data for consuming applications and downstream systems.
- Operational Excellence: Monitor and manage the health of operational data systems. Define and track key metrics around data freshness, completeness, and error rates, and act swiftly to resolve issues.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with upstream data providers, downstream application teams, and business operations to understand data requirements and resolve data-related issues efficiently.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure that all data management practices adhere to Citi's data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements, particularly as they relate to client and financial data.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in technology roles within financial services, with a strong focus on operational data management.
- Domain Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience in one or more of the following data domains:
- Client & Account Data: Deep understanding of client onboarding data flows, KYC/AML data requirements, and account lifecycle management.
- Financial Data: Strong familiarity with financial transactions, positions, balances, and the systems that generate and consume them.
- Documents Data: Experience with document management systems, content repositories, and document ingestion pipelines (e.g., OCR, metadata extraction).
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Proficiency in data pipeline development using Python or similar languages.
- Experience with messaging and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, MQ) for real-time data distribution.
- Familiarity with data quality frameworks and tools.
- Experience with RESTful API design and development.
- Attention to Detail: An exceptional eye for detail and a deep commitment to data accuracy and operational rigor.
- Problem Solver: A proactive, hands-on approach to identifying and resolving data issues quickly and permanently.
- Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams in a global organization.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
