The Role

Your Opportunity as a Wave Planner

The Wave Planner will be responsible for ensuring the daily workload is released in accordance with company standards while providing analysis to impact business decisions. This position will work to coordinate the daily workload and plan work release to the floor. 

Location: 30800 W. 207th Street, Edgerton, KS 66021 (Hostess Distribution Center)

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site, Day Shift Mon-Fri 3pm-12:30am (flexibility required)

In this role you will:

  • Compile data for daily production reports and present them in a timely manner to all stakeholders.

  • Review current production orders with the Distribution Coordinator and ensure all scheduled production is adequately tasked.

  • Continuously work with ICQA personnel to identify and troubleshoot inventory issues on production lines.

  • Work directly with Inventory Control Specialist to review previous days’ production and identify corrections needed for financial reporting.

  • Assist in reconciliation of inventory discrepancies

  • Review daily schedule with supervisors to identify the need for schedule adjustments.

  • Oversee the completion of yard check for kitting associated carriers.

  • Promote and ensure a safe working environment, ensure all safety measures are being followed within the designated area, and communicate with production leads, supervisors, and operations manager when necessary.

  • Take the initiative to identify, lead, and establish continuous improvement practices that improve the performance of kitting operations. 

  • Continuously remain in communication with inbound/outbound to ensure needs for product supply and needs of peer departments are being met.

  • Identify and create warehouse tasks for production orders as they are released by the master scheduler.

  • Send required updates to supervisors, master scheduler, operations manager, and team.

  • Other tasks as assigned by the operations manager.

  • Pass on the required information to the oncoming management team for the following shift.

  • Prepare production order paperwork for the oncoming shift.

  • Ensure daily assignments have been completed.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required

  • 1 year of experience managing warehouse systems required

  • 1 year of previous distribution experience

  • Strong computer skills

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Previous wave planner or production planner experience

  • Food manufacturing/distribution experience is desired

  • Experience in Blue Yonder, Oracle and IMI systems is a plus.

Work Environment: This job operates in a warehouse environment. The noise level in the work environment sites can be high.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.  

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently.

  • May push and pull heavy trash carts, and portable equipment

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
