Job Summary:

The Wastewater Supervisor is responsible for technical oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational performance of site wastewater treatment systems within a high-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.

This role serves as both engineering authority and frontline leader, overseeing chemical treatment processes, ultra-high purity water systems, hazardous waste handling, and environmental compliance while managing a multi-shift operations team.

The position partners closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, and Process Engineering to ensure safe, compliant, and scalable operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety first! You will be trained on general safety requirements at the time of hire and specific requirements within this team during the first 90 days of hire. You will be trained and required to follow all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies, as well as specific safety requirements within the wastewater and chemical team. You will be sent to 24-hour Health and Safety Training for Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility Worker.
  • Work with the Plant Manager to develop a continuous improvement plan and develop new hires with hands-on training and through training / certifications in HRIS system (PayCom).
  • Ideal candidate has analytical and critical thinking ability to be able to evaluate, interpret information and procedures, to make timely decisions while functioning in a fast-paced, changing work environment. Possess organizational skills to meet deadlines and assist staff in multi- research studies. Work in areas where chemical based allergens may be in use.
  • Employee is responsible to treat waste from processes and chemical waste, chemical analysis of tank compositions, filtration and changing chemicals or solutions in the chemical tanks, neutralizing solids from the chemical tanks, maintaining the chemical tanks and the waste treatment area.
  • Mastery of all Lab Tech and Chemist responsibilities: can perform all Lab Tech and Chemist responsibilities at a high level. 
  • Can step in to assist with any process, including running of the Wastewater lab instruments.
  • Facilitator for Wastewater lab area: monitors progress of the Wastewater team workflow with a focus on Pentagon as a whole. 
  • Responsible for keeping up-to-date on all emails and communications within the group and from outside the team. 
  • Confirms the priority of all parts in the WW Lab and works with Techs to meet quotas.
  • Mastery of all Data Collection and Review: trending of instrument performance, trending for part pass/fail rates, inventory usage, works with engineering to establish and monitor all baseline data, presentations, data collection as required by other departments. Acts to address and resolve all deviations from baseline data  
  • Representative for the chem ops/Wastewater Lab: attends meetings, presents, calls outside services, Works with Lab Manager.  
  • Possess written and communication skills to clearly express ideas, share technical information, communicate with customers at all levels of the organization, write SOP's and develop plans.
  • Handle conflict well and give positive and constructive feedback along with managing performance issues.
  • Special Projects and New Procedures: writing SOPs, updating current SOPs, implementing changes to existing procedures, manages training of all Techs and Chemists when changes are made. 
  • Unscheduled/Scheduled Shut-Downs or Emergencies: Can act in place of the WW Lab Manager when emergencies arise, works with plant Manager to accommodate shut-downs and create action plans.

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. (Or closely related field)
  • Supervisory role for 3+ years
  • 5+ years in Industrial (Non-Municipal) wastewater treatment
  • Chemical processing or semiconductor/clean manufacturing environments experience
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Acid/Base Chemistry
    • Precipitation/Flocculation processes
    • Hazardous waste handling
    • Experience with environmental compliance and reporting

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or cleanroom environments Familiarity with:
    • High purity/ultra water systems
    • MAQ/control area concepts
    • Experience leading multi-shift technical teams
    • Exposure to PLC/automated systems
    • Understanding of programming of PLC systems

     

    SAFETY:

    Employee will be trained in, and is to follow and lead by example, all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies as well as specific safety regulatory requirements

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Must be able to function well in an office environment. Must also be able to work in a controlled chemical and wastewater environment. Must also be able to perform in a laboratory environment. Persons who are sensitive to chemical environments with such medical conditions as asthma, allergies, or extreme sensitivity to chemicals may not be considered as good candidates for this position. Able to travel to the various Pentagon Technologies Facilities as required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must pass Company required screening tests.  The employee is regularly required to sit and stand, reach with hands and arms and perform light routine office work, which includes computer workstation usage. Should be able to pick-up 35 lbs on occasional or regular basis.

      Skills Required

      • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field
