Responsible for safe and efficient washcoat production during the assigned shift, ensuring compliance with EHS, quality, and production requirements. Lead shift operations, develop team capability, drive shift performance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve overall factory objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage daily production operations ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production targets.  
  • Monitor and control key production KPIs including First Time Right (FTR), Tank Turnaround Time, COPQ%, and material consumption variance.  
  • Perform process troubleshooting and root cause analysis to minimize process deviations, wastage, and downtime. Improve MIS reporting,  
  • Work closely with Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth production flow, equipment reliability, and compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards 
  • Participate in process improvement and cost reduction initiatives focused on productivity enhancement, cycle time reduction, and waste elimination.  
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including trial execution, process validation, and manufacturability improvements.  
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities to reduce equipment breakdowns and improve operational efficiency.  
  • Maintain SOPs, batch records, process documentation, and production reports to ensure compliance and traceability.  
  • Facilitate operator capability development through on-job training, SOP awareness, and process coaching.  
  • Manage PGM solution issuance from vault and controlled addition into batching tanks, ensuring quantity verification, process compliance, traceability, and safe material handling practices.  
  • Coordinate with Planning and Stores teams to ensure timely material availability and uninterrupted production execution.  
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) activities for process modifications, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements.  
  • Support digitalization and automation initiatives through effective utilization of SCADA/MES systems and production data monitoring.  
  • Contribute to cost reduction initiatives through yield improvement, waste reduction, cycle time optimization, and energy-saving projects.  
  • Review and close production-related deviations, waivers, CAPAs, and audit observations within defined timelines.  
  • Drive shopfloor discipline through adherence to 5S, visual management, and standard work practices. 
  • Support implementation of poka-yoke/error-proofing initiatives to reduce manual handling risks and process deviations. 

SCOPE

The production shift supervisor is responsible for the production area during the shift.  Responsible for safety, quality and performance.  Authority to change production plan where necessary.

Degree level in technical discipline (Mechanical/Chemical) Engineering - Essential

More than 5 years of experience in production environment - Essential

Extensive experience leading shift teams in complex, fast-paced manufacturing environments - Essential

Has worked on ERP system (SAP) - Essential

Qualified in technical discipline - Essential

Lean manufacturing and problem-solving skills - Essential

PERSONAL SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES
