Job Description
Role Overview
The Account Opening team plays a critical role in onboarding corporate clients while ensuring full compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will lead a high-performing team, drive operational excellence, and champion client-centric initiatives across Singapore and regional subsidiaries.
This leadership role requires strong documentation expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage escalations, improve turnaround times, and lead transformation projects. You will also deputize the Department Head, providing continuity and support in their absence.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Account Opening team, ensuring SLA adherence and timely, accurate processing of corporate account openings.
Review documentation submitted by business units, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Drive service quality and process improvements, with a strong focus on client experience and reduced rework.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including branches, relationship managers, and regional teams.
Guide, coach, and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
Lead and support strategic initiatives such as digital onboarding, eSign, CBPR+, FATCA/CRS (Project Caesar), and SLA DCP.
Manage escalations and urgent requests with sound judgment and professionalism.
Represent the department in cross-functional projects and UAT activities.
Deputize the Department Head when required, ensuring seamless leadership coverage.
Requirements
Degree-holder with minimum 10 years of relevant experience in account opening documentation review.
Demonstrated success in leading teams and driving operational improvements.
Proven leadership experience in operations, with at least 5 years in people management.
Strong knowledge of corporate account documentation and regulatory requirements (FATCA/CRS, QI).
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under pressure.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and outcome-driven.
Proficient in MS Office; experience with Excel VBA/Macros is an advantage.
