Bigabid is a leading DSP in the mobile app space, powered by a world class team of data scientists and engineers specializing in advanced machine learning platforms.  We deliver valuable results and insights for a fast-growing clientele of major app developers using elite programmatic user acquisition and retargeting technologies. 

Our ever-evolving, state-of-the-art machine learning technology analyzes tens of TB of raw data per day to produce millions of ad recommendations in real-time. This data is used to power our Machine Learning predictions, business-critical metrics, and analytics used to power our decision-making. 

About the position:

We are looking for a VP of R&D to join our executive team and lead innovative, data driven technical solutions at scale.  This is a high-impact leadership role where you can shape the future of ML and DL in one of the most dynamic industries. 

As the VP of R&D at Bigabid, you will lead the entire development lifecycle - from shaping architecture and engineering best practices to growing high-performing teams and delivering scalable solutions. 

You will work closely with Co-founder & CTO to define and execute the company’s strategic direction, while you will play a key role in defining both what we build and how we build it, while balancing strategic thinking with hands-on leadership when it matters most.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, partnering with the CEO and peers to shape the company’s business strategy and translate it into a high-impact technological roadmap. 
• Lead, mentor, and scale R&D teams, including Engineering, Data, Data Science and Infrastructure.
• Own the full software development lifecycle - from planning and design to deployment and ongoing optimization.
• Lead the strategic adoption of Generative AI and Machine Learning technologies to enhance product capabilities and accelerate internal development velocity. 
• Collaborate closely with Product and Business teams to transform business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices, effective development methodologies, high code quality, and operational excellence.
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, security, and performance across all platforms and services.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain technological leadership and competitive advantage.

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (VP or Director) managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary R&D organizations. 
• Proven experience managing or working in extreme proximity to Data Science and ML teams. 
• Strong technical background in software architecture, real-time platforms, cloud infrastructure, and big-data environments.
• Proven track record of working closely with Product, Business, and Executive leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and execution. 
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving and modern development practices.
• Extensive experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP) and managing large-scale data pipelines and distributed systems. 
• Exceptional ability to align technical initiatives with business goals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience in AdTech, Data, AI/ML, or performance marketing.
• Expert-level knowledge in software architecture, in high-concurrency, low-latency, and real-time platforms
