VP - Investments

The VP, Investments, will be based in Bermuda as part of the Global Investments team that is also situated across the US & UK, collaborating closely with our colleagues across the rest of the functions within the organisation.

The role will focus on multiple investment related activities of Resolution Life’s reinsurance business, where they will predominately focus on the structural components of the team such as performance analysis, risk management, reporting new Reinsurance treaty onboarding and the continuous build-out of the team’s operating infrastructure.  The VP, Investments will gain exposure to investments across the Portfolio, and engage in wider initiatives within the Company, etc.  Some travel maybe required, as well as being present in the Bermuda office on a hybrid basis.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• The key on-island representative for the Investment Solutions, Analytics and Operations team.
• Participant on special projects across Resolution Re, and the wider Group. Group Head Office and engagement with Group oversight and governance processes.
• Contribute significantly to reviewing and enhancing the Investment Operating Landscape within Resolution Life, and with significant focus on ResRe.
• Support the implementation of new investment strategies including the analysis of investment guidelines and risk impacts.
• Participate in onboarding new Reinsurance Treaties, with particular focus on ensuring increased controls, maintaining flexibility whilst reducing complexity.
• Develop a strong, independent Investment Performance process, considering opportunities to build on current technology stack where possible.
• Develop investment-related reporting and analysis to support the broader Investment Team activities e.g. portfolio analysis, risk analysis, cash flow projections.
• Support development and maintenance of investment-related systems e.g., Aladdin, BondEdge, Clearwater, etc.
• Become a key participant on special projects across Resolution Life as a Company, and also specific on-island initiatives.
• Actively promote and uphold the values of the company.
• Ensure that colleagues, customers, advisors, and stakeholders are valued and treated with respect.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Qualified Accountant (CA or CPA) with a minimum of 10 years’ work experience in the investment & reinsurance industry is required.
• An Investments / Finance related qualification is an asset (e.g. CFA or ARE)
• 10+ years’ Experience in working in a financial services company, in either the insurance or asset management sector with exposure to investment strategy, ALM or financial risk management, Investment Management Performance, Data, and wider Investments / Insurance operating models is required.
• Excellent MS Office knowledge (primarily Excel) is required.
• In depth experience of 3rd party systems namely BlackRock Aladdin, Bloomberg, BondEdge, Clearwater.
• In depth experience in third party system implementations and working with implementations specialists.
• In-depth knowledge of public and private investment asset classes including mortgage loans and Alternative investments.
