ABOUT THIS ROLE
As the VP, Head of Operations at Apex Fintech Solutions, you will be responsible for the overall operations of the firm’s Operations division. This role involves leading operational strategy, optimizing performance, and ensuring that the firm’s custody and clearing activities align with its business goals. The Head of Operations, ACC will oversee key departments including, but not limited to: Settlements, P&S, ACATs, Corporate Actions, Mutual Funds, Operational Data, Banking, Cashiering, Ops Control, Investor Communications, Regulatory Reporting, and will serve as a driving force in executing growth and operational excellence strategies across the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Define and implement the operational strategy to support and enhance Apex Clearing Corporation’s strategic goals.
Collaborate with executives to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness.
Operational Excellence:
Champion the adoption of AI and automation across operations workflows to reduce manual processing, improve accuracy, and scale capacity ahead of volume growth.
Oversee all operational functions, ensuring they are consistent with established goals for growth and profitability.
Ensure operational systems, processes, and policies are followed, improving the quality and efficiency of operations.
Team Management and Development:
Provide leadership to the Operations division management team cultivating a high-performance culture.
Develop training and mentorship programs to enhance the skills of the operations division management team.
Performance and Efficiency:
Monitor daily operations to ensure a smooth workflow, identifying areas for potential improvement.
Implement performance metrics to assess department success and drive business performance.
Financial Oversight:
Partner with the finance team to manage operational budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
Analyze financial statements and operational metrics to guide decision-making.
Risk and Compliance Management:
Uphold regulatory and policy frameworks, working closely with legal and compliance teams.
Develop strategies for risk management and mitigation to safeguard company interests.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
12+ years of experience in a senior operational role within the financial services industry, specifically in custody and clearing services.
6+ years of people management experience
FINRA Series 7 and Series 24 License(s) required
Proven track record of successfully leading large teams and managing complex organizations.
Required Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and execution.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of nurturing talent and fostering collaborative teams.
Comprehensive understanding of industry regulations, operations, and best practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
