Vice President, Account Manager – Financial Institutions Group (FIG)

Position Overview

PIMCO is seeking a highly motivated and client-focused professional to join its Financial Institutions Group (FIG) team in Japan, based in Tokyo.

This role will support the coverage and development of relationships with Japanese financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies, and regional financial institutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing existing client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering PIMCO's broad investment capabilities to clients. Working closely with senior colleagues across Japan and the global organization, the individual will play an important role in supporting the continued growth of one of PIMCO's most strategic client segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with Japanese financial institution clients, including banks, insurance companies, and regional financial institutions
  • Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities to expand existing relationships and generate new investment mandates
  • Partner with senior FIG colleagues to execute client coverage plans and contribute to achieving business growth objectives
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients' investment objectives, organizational priorities, and market challenges
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Product Strategy, and Marketing teams to deliver tailored investment solutions and thought leadership to clients
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, portfolio reviews, market updates, and strategic discussions
  • Coordinate responses to RFPs, due diligence requests, client inquiries, and ongoing servicing requirements
  • Represent PIMCO in client meetings, industry conferences, and relationship-building activities across the financial institutions sector
  • Work closely with regional and global colleagues to ensure a high-quality and consistent client experience
  • Contribute to broader strategic initiatives supporting the growth of PIMCO's FIG business in Japan

Candidate Qualifications

  • Experience to cover financial institution client is preferable. (e.g., sales, product strategy or portfolio management are preferable)
  • Native level Japanese language communication
  • Demonstrated experience managing institutional client relationships and supporting business development activities in Japan
  • Strong understanding of Japanese financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies, and regional financial institutions
  • Knowledge of fixed income, alternatives, and/or multi-asset investment strategies
  • Existing relationships within the Japanese financial institutions market are preferable
  • Strong client engagement, relationship management, and business development skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities in both Japanese (native level) and English
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and pursue growth opportunities
  • Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work successfully across a global organization
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and credibility with institutional clients and internal stakeholders
