Vice President, Salesforce ProgramPosition Summary

The Vice President, Salesforce Program will lead the enterprise-wide Salesforce strategy, architecture, and execution across Cengage Group. Reporting to the CIO, this role will oversee all aspects of Salesforce platform delivery, governance, and innovation. With deep expertise across Salesforce cloud platforms and enterprise application integration, the VP will drive transformational initiatives that align technology with business objectives, enhance customer experience, and ensure scalable, compliant solutions. This leader will partner closely with executive stakeholders across business units and build a high-performing Salesforce organization capable of delivering continuous value.
 

Key ResponsibilitiesSalesforce Strategy & Innovation
  • Establish and execute the enterprise-wide Salesforce vision and roadmap, aligning platform strategy with business objectives and transformation goals.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of Salesforce initiatives to ensure they deliver measurable value and support long-term scalability.
  • Champion innovation through Salesforce multi-cloud capabilities, AI, automation, and advanced analytics to optimize business processes and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with business leaders, vendors, and system integrators to support scalable, compliant, and business-aligned Salesforce solutions.
  • Consistently work with abstract ideas and complex enterprise-wide scenarios requiring deep knowledge of Cengage’s business model, technology landscape, and competitive environment.
     
Functional & Technical Oversight
  • Oversee functional and technical Salesforce teams across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Experience Cloud, and custom platform development, ensuring architectural integrity and performance optimization.
  • Promote scalable, modular architecture and clean configuration principles, integrating Salesforce with enterprise systems and data platforms as appropriate.
  • Establish governance for solution design, development standards, testing protocols, release management, and vendor collaboration to ensure seamless delivery and support.
     
Business Partnership & Enablement
  • Act as a key advisor to business leaders, translating strategic goals into scalable Salesforce solutions that drive business outcomes.
  • Drive process optimization and digital enablement across sales, marketing, service, and customer experience functions.
  • Manage strategic relationships with Salesforce, system integrators, AMS providers, and third-party vendors.
  • Evaluate and select complementary tools and platforms to enhance Salesforce capabilities and ensure long-term scalability.
  • Build and lead a multi-sourced Salesforce delivery team (onshore, offshore, contractors, FTEs), fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
     
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise technology leadership, including 5+ years leading large-scale Salesforce programs.
  • Proven success in delivering multi-cloud Salesforce implementations and enterprise application integration.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, governance, and platform capabilities.
  • Salesforce Administrator (ADM201) certification required; additional certifications preferred.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
