We're proud to champion a more sustainable way to use tech. With an average of 3-4 rental cycles per device depending on the category, we estimate that the rental of our portfolio from 2015-2021 resulted in 160,000 fewer e-waste products and about 250 tons of e-waste. 

We are looking for a VP of Accounting & Tax to join our talented Finance team hybridly in Berlin.

This role will be crucial in driving the strategic direction of our accounting and tax processes, ensuring alignment with both corporate goals and regulatory requirements. This position requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in German HGB and preferably also in international accounting standards and tax compliance.

🎯 What you will contribute:

  • Mentor and lead a high-performing accounting and tax team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting and compliance with German GAAP (HGB), and in future potentially also other relevant international standards and IFRS.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate closing of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts, with a focus on high-quality and audit-ready financial statements.
  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for accounting, tax, and financial compliance to support growth objectives.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in accounting and tax functions, leveraging technology and process automation.
  • Lead and oversee corporate tax strategies, including income tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and other applicable tax areas.
  • Ensure full compliance with German tax regulations as well as international tax requirements for cross-border transactions.
  • Champion best practices, staying current with industry trends, new regulations, and advancements in accounting and tax technology.

🤝 What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, Chartered Accountant, or similar professional designation is preferred. Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or MBA) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, including tax, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role. Preferably including scale-up experience.
  • Proven experience in a complex, international corporate environment with deep knowledge of German GAAP and tax law, preferably also in IFRS.
  • Strong numerical proficiency, organization, good problem-solving skills, and excellent use of logic.
  • Experience in digital transformation, including process automation and ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA or similar).
  • A keen eye for detail and a desire to probe further into data.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and German (C1 minimum).
