Leidos is seeking an experienced Voice / VoIP Architect to provide senior-level technical leadership, architectural oversight, and strategic direction for enterprise voice and unified communications services supporting NASA’s mission and corporate environments. This role is central to designing, evolving, and modernizing large-scale telephony platforms, including hybrid and cloud-based voice architectures and the transition from legacy Cisco environments to Microsoft Teams Telephony.
The selected candidate will serve as the lead architect for enterprise voice services, responsible for end-to-end design, integration, migration, and optimization of VoIP and unified communications platforms. This includes deep expertise in SIP-based communications, secure voice architectures, and large-scale, mission-critical deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design of enterprise voice and VoIP solutions across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Define and execute migration strategies from legacy PBX/Cisco UC platforms to Microsoft Teams Telephony.
- Architect SIP trunking solutions, including secure TLS/SRTP communications between enterprise platforms.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for voice call flows, signaling, and cross-platform interoperability.
- Design and implement Session Border Controller (SBC) architectures (Cisco CUBE, Oracle SBC, etc.).
- Ensure secure voice architecture including certificates, encryption, firewall traversal, and compliance requirements.
- Integrate voice services across LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud network environments with proper QoS and prioritization.
- Perform capacity planning and traffic analysis to ensure scalability, resiliency, and performance.
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex VoIP, SIP, and gateway issues.
- Develop architectural standards, roadmaps, and lifecycle strategies for enterprise voice services.
- Deliver executive-level technical briefings and mentor engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10–15+ years of experience in enterprise voice/VoIP engineering or architecture.
- Proven experience supporting large-scale telephony deployments and migrations, including Cisco to Microsoft Teams Telephony.
- VoIP Protocols & Standards: Expert-level understanding of SIP, RTP/RTCP, H.323, and codec technologies (G.711, G.729, Opus).
- Networking Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, MPLS, SD-WAN, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) for voice traffic prioritization.

- Experience with Avaya or similar enterprise voice platforms

- Strong troubleshooting skills using protocol analyzers (SIP traces, packet captures, call flow analysis).
