Westfalia Technologies, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Vision Guided Robotics Developer to join our Research and Development team! The Vision Guided Robotics Developer designs and develops intelligent software systems that enable robotic platforms to operate autonomously in industrial environments. The role focuses on applying artificial intelligence, computer vision, and robotics technologies to improve automation capabilities and support vision-guided robotic systems used in material handling and warehouse automation.
Location Requirements: Must live within a 100 mile radius of Westfalia Technologies Inc Headquarters and within the following states - DE, MD, NJ, PA.
Job Functions:
- Solve business challenges through thoughtful software solutions, using AI, machine learning, or traditional programming when best suited.
- Collaborate with engineering and software teams to ensure software solutions meet operational requirements.
- Monitor deployed AI systems, analyze performance, and improve model accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicate project status, risks, and progress clearly to stakeholders.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant AI technologies and industry best practices.
- Deliver practical AI solutions that produce measurable business impact.
- Track system improvements and report outcomes to key stakeholders.
- Protect confidential and proprietary information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience building robotics and AI systems in Linux environments.
- Experience developing robotics software using ROS2, including integration with ros2_control, MoveIt, and/or Nav2.
- Proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow for training and deploying perception models.
- Experience implementing computer vision systems using OpenCV and deep learning architectures such as YOLO, U-Net, SAM, CNNs, or Vision Transformers.
- Knowledge of camera geometry, camera calibration, feature extraction, and image processing techniques used in robotic perception.
- Experience developing RGB-D or multi-sensor perception pipelines, including 3D perception, 6D pose estimation, SLAM, or visual odometry.
- Familiarity with robotics simulation platforms such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, or Unity for system testing and synthetic data generation.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape, and preparing CAD models for robotics simulation environments.
- Experience optimizing and deploying ML models for real-time inference using ONNX, TensorRT, and GPU acceleration.
- Experience deploying AI systems to edge robotics hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson, GPU servers, or industrial PCs.
- Familiarity with Docker, Git, and modern development workflows for building, deploying, and maintaining robotics software systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience developing, training, and deploying machine learning or AI models in a professional environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via virtual platforms.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 15 pounds (e.g., laptop, equipment, or materials).
- Must be fit for air travel and legally able to rent and drive a rental vehicle.
Travel Requirements:
- This role will involve travel (Approximately 10% of the time) for client visits and other isolated events, both domestically and internationally. Although infrequent, stays of more than one week overseas may be beneficial to technical collaboration with partner companies.
- In-office time at the York, PA facility will be required.
- Remote (at home) work will be possible with manager approval, when work tasks permit it.
