The Role:
This role combines was was formerly the Vehicle Performance Owner (VPO) and Calibration Technical Specialist (CTS) for Viewing Systems. The Lead Calibration Engineer will serve as a technical expert for viewing calibration and provide leadership to the viewing team on best practices, regulatory risks, trade off analyses, and everything related to viewing performance.
What You'll do:
- Leads viewing calibrators
- Develops and ensures calibration best practices are followed
- Leads calibration review meetings
- Point of contact for programs on FMVSS 111 performance, deviation acceptability, and GVBR
- Works with Development and Systems teams on calibration planning
- Engages with validation teams about test planning / strategies
- Leads Cal BOM review and resolution
- Leads Image quality requirements and test strategy
- Understands viewing best practices across the industry and works with stake holders to build roadmap to ensure GM is best in class
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree.
- 7+ years of overall engineering experience
- Ability to work with computer-based tools to collect and analyze data
- Ability to analyze visual displays subjectively and objectively for accuracy and clarity
- Detailed knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical concepts
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
- High level of project management skills and flexibility in balancing multiple projects and changing priorities
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of the GVDP process
Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
- 10+ years of automotive experience in testing, development, and calibration
- DFSS Black Belt
- Experience in viewing systems and/or performance calibration
- Knowledge of the major vehicle systems
- Experience in JIRA / PRTS
