About this role
Japan is a key strategic Wealth market for BlackRock, with a sophisticated investor base and evolving demand for diversified solutions. The Japan Wealth team partners with leading distributors (securities firms, banks, trust banks, insurers, platforms) to deliver BlackRock’s full platform across active, ETFs, multi-asset, and alternatives.
Role Purpose
Drive growth of the Japan Wealth business by leading senior client relationships, executing distribution strategy, and delivering commercial outcomes. This role combines strategic leadership, team management, and strong market engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Own senior relationships with key Wealth distributors and strategic partners
Drive AUM growth, revenue, and strategic account plans
Define and execute Japan Wealth distribution strategy (segments, products, go-to-market)
Lead and develop the intermediary sales team (coaching, performance management)
Position BlackRock’s full platform through solution-oriented client engagement
Translate market trends and client needs into commercial opportunities using data and analytics
Deliver client presentations, seminars, and thought leadership to enhance market presence
Partner cross-functionally (Product, Investments, Marketing, Risk & Analytics, Operations)
Maintain pipeline discipline, forecasting, and CRM excellence
Ensure compliance with internal policies and Japanese regulatory requirements
Experience / Qualifications
15+ years in asset management, Wealth distribution, or related field
Proven track record in senior relationship management and commercial delivery
Experience leading and developing sales teams
Deep understanding of Japan intermediary/Wealth distribution landscape
Strong investment knowledge (active, ETFs, multi-asset, alternatives)
Strategic, commercial, and data-driven mindset (AI tools a plus)
Strong communication and presentation skills
Fluent Japanese; business-level English
Collaborative, client-focused, high integrity

Our hybrid work model

Skills Required
- 8+ years of experience in asset management, Wealth distribution, or related financial services.
- Strong understanding of Japan's Wealth distribution landscape and client decision-making.
- Proven track record in relationship management, fundraising, and commercial delivery.
- Broad investment knowledge across active strategies, ETFs, multi-asset, and alternatives.
- Ability to articulate investment concepts and portfolio construction to sophisticated clients.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and data-driven judgment; familiarity with AI-enabled tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in Japanese; business-level English required.
- Collaborative and effective in a global matrix environment.
- High professional integrity and client-centric mindset.
- Relevant regulatory licensing required.
