Corporate - RiskThis role will support the Head of Financial Risk Management for Global Retirement and Insurance (GRI) in managing the risks of the GRI business units, while also collaborating with the Head of Financial Risk Management to ensure pricing is appropriate and reasonable.
What you'll do:
- Work collaboratively with partners throughout the product development lifecycle to identify, assess and mitigate key risks
- Act as a key point of contact between the business units and the centralized Financial Risk Management functions, escalating risks as appropriate
- Involvement in a variety of both inforce and new business initiatives, including new products, reinsurance transactions, changes in existing risk mitigants, etc
- Support periodic product deep dives, reviewing emergence of risks and mitigants
- Perform the duties of second-line pricing oversight, including enforcing Pricing and Methodology Standards as appropriate, reviewing methodologies, proposing new Pricing Standards, and understanding profitability results and sensitivities
- Give the businesses an understanding of Prudential’s Risk Appetite Framework and how the business units fit into it
- Remain engaged with the competitive landscape, providing an understanding of competitor risk practices to stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with operational risk to ensure proper coordination and alignment
What you'll need:
- 10+ years of broad insurance experience
- Deep knowledge of insurance products, including both liabilities and assets
- Strong understanding of how market, investment, assumption, and model risk manifest in Prudential’s key products
- Strong analytical capabilities with ability to apply analytical/critical thinking background to new situations
- Self-starter who can be trusted to take ownership of their work product
- Understanding of insurer financials, including Statutory and GAAP accounting, as well as how those frameworks are represented in product pricing
- Relevant credentials, including FSA or CFA, are a plus
- Strategic, creative, and broadly focused thinker
- Strong oral and written skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and highly skilled in collaboration
- Experience with international insurance products is a plus
